Could have actually posted more than a link, but whatever...typing is hard work.
By the way, this ruling only affects the states that circuit covers, before people come in here freaking out. Still a horrible ruling, but there you go. Putting your car in your garage or posting a 'No Trespassing' sign also makes the police seek a warrant.

it's difficult to post a no trespassing sign when you live in an apartment
i just don't understand why this is necessary. how much privacy has to be put aside for the matter of "public safety"?

People are complaining about it because it will get appealed and the Supreme Court will probably side with them so it will then apply to the whole US.

Sorry didn't have time to post thoughts when I made the thread. I think it could be scary to see what other things that could happen like this, such as implanting them into people's bodies, but I know that is probably still down the road.

Well that's a ridiculous leap. Your body is as 'personal property' as it gets. The only reason the GPS thing is an issue is because these cars are generally in public view, and trailing someone with a GPS is essentially the same as trailing someone manually, which you don't need a warrant to do.

You say that now, but eventually the high schooler gig becomes illegal.

Banging high schoolers. You're 19 now, but at 27 you'll end up with a tracking bracelet on your ankle and a lot of explaining to do everytime you move.
