I hated Pierce Brosnan and that's why I would never see a James Bond movie, but Daniel Craig is an amazing actor, I may have to see it now.

my only real complaint about the movie is it ends very unexpectedly and kind of drags on for a short while in the latter half

it's amazing...one of the most captivating Bond movies I have ever seen, and far better than anything Brosnan ever did.
Daniel Craig is a far more realistic human in that role

i wish the new bond movies had ridiculous villians like the old ones. jaws anyone?
how bout a guy who has asthma and bleeds from his eyeball? that crazy villain enough for you?
anyways, awesome movie, albeit too long, some parts could have easily been edited out
this movie was great, i'm really glad they remade the original, because it was horrible.
daniel craig >>>>>>>> pierce brosnan
IMO best Bond movie. And Daniel Craig played the best Bond. He fit what Bond really was, maybe a bit too muscular but was very solid. OUCH to the chair. thats all I will say

haha, touche. i actually haven't seen it yet. i just remember having to watch every bond movie when my dad would take over the tv for a week for those bond marathons on tmc or whatever.
damn good movie. i'll always be a connery elitist, but this is about as good as you can get without him (loved that they traded away the special effects for espionage and suspense). and eva green is HOT.
favorite line:
Bond: "Your alias is Stephanie Broadchest"
Vesper: "It is not! let me see that!"
if you liked Daniel Craig in this, check out Layer Cake and Munich.

eh she is all right...I'm not so much a fan of her face with all the makeup on it. She looked better when she was in the bathroom with like no makeup on.

Movie was really awesome. Daniel Craig does a good job as Bond. Some parts were cheesy in my opinion, but the torture scene hurt to watch. Blue Balls FTW

i'll agree there was some cheese, but this was probably the least cheesey bond film ever (certainly since sean connery).

My thoughts:
Bond is back, folks, and arguably better than ever in this flic, which is one of my favourites of the year.
I would consider myself a Bond fan, as the series is an inspiration for my bid to write as a former spy and such. The punchlines and one-liners are all back to give us a chuckle during the dialogue; the action is done right and keeps the viewer on the edge as Bond digs deeper into his impending death, but with his amazing escape methods, he delivers (the well-positioned barrels or boxes of explosive material is back, of course).
The new Bond is, well, not the same Bond -- thank God for that. He's a sly, egostical bad-ass who takes risks and makes mistakes along the way. Next time we see him, however, it is anticipated that he will be more cautious as to where he puts his heart or gun.
The silly gadgets are gone, and while there are many nods to old movies (like martinis, Aston Martin, etc). The utterance of "Bond, James Bond" is one of the most satisfying of the storied franchise.
Overall, this is a really good film. The plot realistically comes second to introducing the new Bond (who, I reiterate, is amazing), but is still the breath of fresh air the series has been dying for.

I liked it..solid bond flick. The second half did tend to drag a bit..daniel craig was good not great..a lil too arroagant and not nearly as suave as bond needs to be..
and for the record..i liked brosnan as bond..:-p

im hearing daniel craig did a great job...
but this movie is doing what the new x-men movie did...it destroyed the franchise.
i hear they stripped him of all his flair, made him not as likable, and just plain ruthless.

No. If anything, it's going to save the franchise.
i hear they stripped him of all his flair, made him not as likable, and just plain ruthless.
They stripped him of the retarded gadgets ... THANK FUCKING GOD.
More people need to read the original Bond as portrayed by Ian Fleming, the author. The new Bond is the truest to what Fleming created in the first place.

thats the point of the book and the movie
this is before he becomes suave, cool, and collected, the movie begins when he is just upgraded to double '0' status

I have to admit I went into this movie with high expectations, and it met every single one of them. Great movie, awesome Bond movie. The only thing I was upset about was...where does this film fit? if it was set before Bond became a 00, why is it set in 2006, as if this is just his next adventure. i.e. mentions of the cold war being over, brand new cars, etc. Everything is anachronious and doesn't make sense if this is supposedly Bond's first mission as a 00. Any thoughts?

I guess it's just "on it's own"??? A new Bond, a clean slate I presume.
However, I thought this was going to be a prequel of sorts. Set in like the 60's (since that's when the book was written) So I was very thrown off when cell phones and Astin Martins were apart of the mix.
Great movie though.

To answer the questions about the "time" period of this movie:
Basically they're reworking Fleming's original into a modern setting, and hypothetically "forgetting" about the rest of the series as if they never happened. This isn't an insult to the classic 007, but the time periods just don't align correctly if you consider Casino Royale a prequel to the rest of them. It's the first one in the books and essentially the first movie time-wise, but it's worked into a modern setting, so expect the next ones to be in the same setting and timed accordingly with Casino being the starting point.
They're starting fresh, basically. New Bond, new direction.

New Bond, new direction.
exactly, that's why I loved this movie so much. It was much different from the recent Bonds, opposite of what I expected. The intro and first scene were done very well.
