You really shouldn't make arguments that apply to yourself.

I realize this thread hasn't been active since 2007, but just figured I'd throw in my two cents. I wholeheartedly agree that NOFX blows ass. Not once in 26 years has their sound evolved at all. Every time they release an album, it sounds just like the one before it.

On top of that, Fat Mike is an arrogant asshole who talks shit about other bands if they don't have the same political ideals and religious beliefs (or lack thereof) that he does.

your list was one of interest, cause there was a few on there i really enjoy & a few i haven't heard yet, & i'm always up to check out new tunes. but from what i've seen so far, most of the general forum posters post somewhat similar lists, even though most of which are albums i really really enjoy. no disrespect, it's just the music forum lot seem to all have a distinctly different taste. keeps things interesting i guess?

Yes, obviously you didn't read what I wrote with any type of clarity because I specifically was talking to that kid who said that and asked everyone who knows anything about punk to get the kid some help... thanks for playing though... and my beef with the site for the day was that it's really more for alternative rock than straight-up punk music or what most consider punk, but punk is a large all-encompassing umbrella so that definition is really vague hence the larger variety of bands being included and then talked about on this message board forum. But the problem with this is NOFX never claim to be gods and pioneers of music, unlike a one Tom DeLonge. They actually released a live album called I Heard They Suck Live (if that is the correct name of it). Also, in case you haven't figured it out, NOFX don't really like a whole lot of other bands. Think back to Warped Tour '06. I saw them play in Mass, and they did nothing but make fun of Underoath. Shit happens, but that doesn't mean that the band isn't good, even if they don't take themselves too seriously.

And I apologize to anybody who reads this and doesn't make much sense of it. It's early and I'm tired.

...While I was typing up that last reply, something hit me. Regardless of whether or not he "makes fun of up-and-coming bands," I think it's being grotesquely overlooked what sort of impact Fat Mike and his label has had on this scene. He's been a pretty big contributor over the years.

I think, he - much like other "punkers" - simply doesn't care for the way the scene is headed in terms of sincerity, creativity, etc. The difference between him and the other detractors (myself included)? He actually does something about it.

Signs bands to his label under fair record deals, talks smack about the things he feels are wrong with the scene, et cetra. Not to mention the longevity and extended popularity the band has shared over the years.

Hate the music all you want, but for people who want to complain about a "dead scene"...Take a look at Fat Wreck as a label. You'd probably be surprised.

I... really dont know anything about NOFX or Blink 182. Or anything about how they are related. I was only addressing the fact that I have listened to NOFX in the past, and I did not like their music. I dont think the longevity of a band necessarily defines how good or bad they are. Just because one band has been around longer than another does not make them better.

Nofx was good back then too before they sold out and lost my respect. Blink 182 on the other hand were always sellouts from their begginnings and they sure sound like whiney little bitches IMO. Don't get me wrong there are still good bands, but they are rare. Nofx was not as succesful at selling out as these other bands, probably cause they lost most of their real fans from the old days.
