View Full Version : heard it through the grapevine
me hears that good ole drive-thru records is losing money like woah. and if they dont start signing more bands and turn a profit they will lose their deal with MCA/Geffen. so theyre going to try to pillage all the smaller scene labels for talent.
btw i cant vouch for any of this, but hey
1. a second best of me video from TSL (make a shorter, more radio friendly song/video) a desperate dash for money with an album thats been out for a year.
2. constant praising of brand new (since when to record labels promote bands that arent even on the lable?)

drive thru's not going anywhere, they just started up their other label Rushmore Records and have just signed Hidden In Plain View. they're staying where they are.

the album is way to mellow for me, the lyrics are brilliant, but that's all its got. i listened to it once or twice and put it away for good.
hot damn!

I thought they were a properous label, granted I dont think they have as many bands signed like other labels.
but aren't the owners crazy spenders? this could all be due to poor money management skills?????

yeah, for example i dont think their most recent signing Hidden In Plain View was a good choice. DTR usually picks bands destined for stardom, but i dont think HIPV can do that.

like i said, most of the DTR bands can easily obtain fan bases of thousands and thousands of kids. even really young kids most of the time too, along with the older fans. sure HIPV will be able to attract a large fan base, but i just cant see them becoming the next teen idol group and having all the kids go nuts over them. i just down think they'll cut it. if they really want a band to sign who will attract every pop punk fans attention in the world then check out www.mp3.com/slysalterego (they;re easily one of my fav bands).
