i'm seeing that on saturday in Iowa City, should be awesome cuz Brand New loves Gabe's, i love them and The Beautiful Mistake, but i've seen Senses Fail and i think they suck live, and i don't know much Moneen, maybe they're good...but how is the Deja Entendu stuff sounding live?

It's definitely a great show. Senses fail was pretty fun, but TBM didnt show up for our show:( Brand New was awesome though, and we got to hang out with them afterwards:)

Brand New was awesome, they didnt really play much off of Deja Entendu, this was the first band that I've ever heard play more old stuff than new. I really wanted to hear Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades, but didnt happen, o well, It was still a great set though. TBM was pretty good, Senses Fail was alright. Good show in all

I also saw them at Gabes in Iowa City, and i agree Senses Fail did steal the show, even though there set was cut by two songs cause of time. brandew rocked the night away and put a hell of a show on too. Moneen was so freakin energentic and were inaane. The Beautiful Mistake also put an awesome show on, even though there bass player had a fall that looked like it hurt like a bitch from crowd surfing, he fell on to the speaker on the stage, but kept rocking out. over all a good show, especially since Gabes is one of Brandews favorite places to play and I talked to dave from senses fail and he said they love gabes too and will be playing there on most tours they go on, so Iowa does have on good thing.

The stuff from deja entendu sounded cool they only played 2 songs from their older CD, they play guernica different, its not as slow so it sounded good
moneen was really good the crowd liked them alot even though alot of people didnt know who they were
no one liked a beautiful mistake some people started chanting brand new before their set was done
senses failed was great they sound just liek they do on the CD:cool:

I just got back from the show in SanFran, it was pretty cool.
Moneen was good, it was odd, them thanking the Americans for letting them into "our" country, seeing as how they're from Canada, it was nice that they were polite, but it just struck me as funny-strange.
Senses Fail was horrible, I like their CD, but after this performance I can actually say I hate them now. I find that they perpetuate all the negative stereotypes of the screamo genre, the "too small t-shirts", the "guitar strap that's too tight, so the guitar player is holding the guitar up really high" y'know, that thing?? . . . . and the screaming for absolutely no reason, there were like death metal screams or something, it was just gross. They try to be like Finch or something, but they just can't, it was embarrasing. But, there were tons of people there to see them who went apeshit for every song, I couldn't care less, I just hate random screaming, it sucks. Besides, they only have like six or seven songs, how can they be that good?? I think DTR thought that Finch would leave them for MCA, so they had to find some screamo band and all they came up with was Senses Fail. . . .it was a poor choice. Some new song, that wasn't on the re-released EP they played, the drummer couldn't stop with the bass drum, it was annoying, the whole song, was just "thump, thump, thump", grrrr.
Anyways, Beatiful Mistake was just boring, moving on. . .
Brand New was pretty cool, they played fuckin' "El Scorcho" with the obligatory "I asked you to go to the Brand New concert" line, it was awesome, but Jesse was laughing too hard to continue, it was still cool, the crowd kept singing the song though. They played an equal amount of old stuff and new stuff, Sic Transit Gloria, Guernica, Tautou, Good To Know, all the long song titles, 'cept for Quiet Things. Old stuff, was Jude Law, Logan To Gov't Center, Soco Amaretto Lime, Mix Tape, Failure By Design, and Seventy Times Seven.
The shirt of the night went to the girl who's shirt said "John Is For Singing" with the picture of Mr. Nolan, there was something else below that but I couldn't read it, it was pretty funny.

umm maybe u just dont like screaming bands, and i think senses fail hate finch. How can you say Senses Fail when you dissed them with every comment you just made. That makes no sense. It sounds like you had a bad time at the show cause you dissed both bands, also, everyone said they had a good time at this tour, maybe this was not your kind of show you shouldve been going too.

umm, no, I don't think so, seeing as how the drummer was wearing a Finch shirt, and the guitarist was tuning up playing riffs from Finch songs, and it would be pretty stupid to start hating on your labelmates.
How can you say Senses Fail when you dissed them with every comment you just made. That makes no sense.
Actually, that makes no sense, how can I say "Senses Fail 'what' "?? Did you leave out a verb there or something??
Also, I said I had a pretty cool time, why you think I had a bad time is beyond me. I actually like a few screamo bands, Finch, ASL, MBR, MCR, I guess you can throw Thursday in there as well. So, it's not like I have a screamo bias, I have a bias against bands who write immature lyrics. Okay, we get it, a girl fucked you over, so why does your cd has to be full of songs about stabbing people and ripping out their hearts??
So, I'm gonna guess by your sig that your name is Lauren, right?? And I'm also gonna take a guess that you're a female, so my question is, does it bother you that Buddy wants to kill girls and rip out their hearts, and his generalizing statement in "Handguns and Second Chances" about "teenie fucking whores"?? How does that make you feel??
At least Darryl from Glassjaw admitted that he was a bit immature when he wrote EYEWTKAS, but that's still a good cd, I have yet to see Glassjaw live, but I have a few bootlegs, and Darryl doesn't scream at random times just for the sake of screaming. Even The Beatiful Mistake screamed and it was nowhere near as bad as Senses Fail.

i went to the Brand New show in SF as well. there were a lot of shitty people there. and the girls shirt what SwedishHeart is talking about was pink with "Because John is for singing not swinging" spraypainted on it. she was standing right in front of me during the show. here is my take on the show:
first of all, i live 3 hours from the city, so i drove down all by myself to see it, didn't have a ticket, but got there early enough to buy one for 20 bucks off some kid standing in line. and there were so many of 'that guy' there. you know, the one who wears the shirt of the band that's playing. and all the girls are so cute. because they try really hard. you can tell their outfits are perfectly planned out. it's adorable.
Moneen: fun to watch! they go pretty crazy. i should have bought their record, but didnt have the cash.
Senses Fail: by FAR the worst band ever. i couldnt believe i was standing there in the front watching them. it was ridiculous. they are a big dtr joke.
The Beautiful Mistake: i had seen them before at the pound, also in sf. i like them. they are pretty mellow, but they have screaming back up vocals whcih were pretty cool. i liked them. people weren't going too crazy. a nice mellow break before the big finale......
Brand New: owned my life. they were amazing. they played all the good ones. they played me vs. maradona vs. elvis, and that was all that mattered. i had a good time. they pretty much played an equal amount of old stuff and new stuff. and ended with seventy times seven. it was greatttttt. it rocked my sicks when they covered el scorcho!!!!!!!! woo! so many people were confused when they played it. only a few of us seemed to know the song.
and then i went to my jeep and had a ticket because i dont have a license plate on the front of my car. lame lame lame.

haha, that's funny, me and my friends were looking for "that guy" too, we saw one in the Top Gun shirt.

just a note, we parked in the some university parking lot a few blocks down, I don't remember the exact intersection, I think it's 16th and Harrison, it's only $1.25 per park on the weekends.

were you in the pit at all? would i have seen you? i was the girl in a brown glassjaw shirt, and on the back in really big letters it said "LET'S MAKE A DEAL"
about the parking, i usually get to the shows early enough to just park on 11th street, which works out great. but ill try to remember that parking lot for next time. thanks.

07/12/03, 09:47 AM
naw, I tend to stay away from the pits, I was in a button-down blue and white shirt, navy blue shorts. If I go in the pit, I usually end up watching out for myself instead of enjoying the music. I was just hanging out by the support beam on the right side.

its so dumb, when people wear shirts to see the same band there seeing, also i did leave out a word and it was hate, why do you think senses fail are big jokes?

Well, I believe they're immature, or at least Buddy is, if he's the only one who write the lyrics, actually, their two other guys, were pretty good, they put the screams in the right place. I just think maybe if Buddy put a little more thought in his lyrics, they'd be better, and just not scream so much. Unless, all of their songs are about one girl, and the whole relationship was totally her fault, then I guess they're okay songs, just don't scream only for screaming's sake.
I will reiterate, I think their performance was pretty poor, I just listened to their EP again this afternoon, and I still like the songs, but Buddy just screamed way too much. He just screamed on stage when he just sang the lyrics on the CD, all of that just to get the crowd psyched.

why dont you listen to any bands lyrics t here all like the same, basic lines about a girl. these are my thoughts those, are your thoughts i am not going to argue with you.

I saw that concert on thrusday.. It made me so happy, Moneen is awesome! Senses Fail is really not that good, that voice changer they use makes there music shitty, but "one eight seven" is such a badass song and the part when they stop and the audience says "shot through my heart" thats so awesome.
I didnt care much about tbm, but i enjoyed it...... but
BRAND NEW IS SO AWESOME! they had to cut it a few songs short becuase everyone was roasting. hot. I really wish they had played The Boy Who blcoked his own shot.
At the end jesse broke a string, and licked the neck of his guitar from top to bottom, it was hot. 2 months and 2 weeks until they come to salem with dashboard, i cant wait.

i finally got to see the show yesterday...it was so good, moneen played first and suprisingly they put on a good performance...but the place they played at(fatcats) sucks and the power kept goin out and the lights shut off and the amps wouldnt work, that happend to them twice, then senses fail was next, and they put on an amazing show the power went off once during stephen, but the rest of the performance was really good dave smashed his guitar at the end cuz it wouldnt work...it was pretty cool, beautiful mistake played next and they were really good as well, half the place cleared and went outside i dont understand cuz tbm put on an awesome show, brand new played last and they were amazing, just the whole time there energy was awesome, even tho vinnies guitar wasnt workin he was still gettin into everything...half the time he was jumpin into the crowd w/ the mic and lettin other people sing along...it was awesome, and at the end jesse was waving everyone up to the stage and a buttload of people just piled onto the stage to sing the end of 70 times 7....it was an awesome show
