The only Floyd albums I consider to be worth a damn are Wish You Were Here and Animals(Also Piper At The Gates of Dawn to a lesser extent). The Wall is over played and not that great while Dark Side of The Moon is just plain over played.

Led Zeppelin, hands down for me. I believe and I know others do to that metal's earliest influence was Zeppelin not to mention they're the biggest influence for rock 'n' roll music as a whole.

Closely behind them I put The Who, as for them I believe they could be the earliest influence on what became punk music.

yes, that was true of them initially, but they definitely changed A LOT over their tenure. I would probably gesture a guess and say that the who was officially the first 'real' rock band, but I think that in the end, they were trumped by the later works of the beatles.

I can understand what you mean, but I see their influence as being so intrinsically vital and necessary to the history of rock and roll as to make them number one. Without them, no other bands mentioned here would be the way they are today. They brought about the greatest change in rock, and that cannot be diminished.

EXACTLY. i'm not saying queen wasn't a huge rock band, just that they are not #1. The Beatles were the trailblazers for all great rock bands to come. and record sales is not the only thing that puts them at the top. If you need evidence, I would recommend checking out the following albums: "Abbey Road"---there's a reason this album poster is in every college dorm room; "Revolver"; "Rubber Soul"; The White Album, and, of course, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

In all honesty, a few years ago I would have probably said something like Led Zeppelin, but since that time I've listened to a ton of music, both old and new. And to deny the fact that The Beatles had the biggest influence is improbable after seeing so many indirect correlations.
I'm just glad SOMEONE else gets it. All credit to Queen, fantastic band, one of the greats in recent music history. But in Rock and Roll history, they don't stack up to The Beatles. Even if you consider that Queen "built" upon what the Beatles laid out.
Are you misreading my points? Do you honestly think I'm Anti-Queen? I'm not. Fantastic band, probably will never be a band quite like Queen(as much as MCR wishes they were). But to put it in a sports analogy, you only get one Michael Jordan, one Babe Ruth, one Wayne Gretzky. There can be only one Beatles. Not to say Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Bill Russel, Henry Aaron, Mario Lemiuex, Mark Messier, or Queen aren't amazing at what they did. No credit taken away at all. Shut the fuck up. We're saying the Beatles, because, overrall, they have written the best music out of any band. It's not just lyrics. It's not just the album sales. It's because of the creativity, the boundaries they broke, the songwriting, and for writing the best music to ever grace this earth.

Why do you say that Queen is the best band of all time? Because of Bohemian Rhapsody? That is an amazing song, and Queen were an amazing band. I would place them in the top 10, probably. But they weren't on the level of the Beatles. Being amazing at your instruments and writing great music is a huge plus, but it doesn't make you the best band ever. And that's not an insult to Queen, in any way.

secretsociety92's favorite bands are probably Motley Cru and Guns N Roses. That's fine, but you need to realize that "sik soloz" don't make a band amazing. Songwriting, creativity, and being great lyrically and musically make you an amazing band. And that's what the Beatles were. Please don't list Queen's great songs, I know them, and I know that the Beatles had alot more. I love Queen, so I don't have a completely one sided opinion on this subject, but it sometimes appears you do. You talk about Bohemian Rhapsody being art, like it's something that the Beatles never accomplished and wrote. Sgt. Pepper is the Mona Lisa of rock albums, trust me.

Queen were better than the Beatles, instrumentally. I've already stated that, earlier on. I prefer John Lennons vocals to Freddie's, but yes, he had a stronger voice, and more range. But they weren't better song writers, weren't as creative, and weren't inventors like the Beatles were, and that is more important.

Guns and Roses had Slash, who is a respected guitar player (fortuantely not by me.) Does that make them an amazing band? Because Slash was better at guitar than George Harrison? No, not at all. You need to realize that being good at an instrument and having a great vocalist, is a huge plus, but it is not everything. Once again, I'm not trying to insult Queen in anyway, I'm just outraged with your ignorance.

I don't like making claims solely on sales, because there are some shitty bands who have sold ALOT of records, but when you sell over 1 BILLION records, that kind of speaks for itself. I don't think anyone will ever come close to topping the Beatles in sales.
