At the Disco fans that stalk their lives and then shit talk them (sup jealousy?), with out at least meeting them. jac vanek was extremely nice the way kerri was, she was at that same show i met kerri at and at warped a few days before, she took time to come over and talk to me about photography, as far as first impressions go she made a good one as well. i have such mixed feelings on that topic. wow i got off on a tangent, end rant. and i have no idea who the other girl with her was but cool.
I don't know why younger girls would want that lifestyle, at all.

If you're reffering to wanting to be in the scene/be a scene queen/etc, I dunno about alot of people, but I know for me, I want to be a big deal 'when I grow up' and I always have a better time at shows when I come off as 'more important' because I talk to/'know' the band. It's fueled purely by wanting attention - esp. since at school/other things, I am not a big deal one bit and its a way to vicariously live the way I want to.
Even though I will admit it's really stupid and fucked up.

I'm going to have to agree. It took a wakeup call from my best friend to get me out of that sort of thing. I'm very happy with how it all turned out in the end. It makes you jaded and hate everything once you're in, but then looking in on what you once were. (If that makes any sense.)

Thank you. Looking back on it all, and then reading how girls post "secrets" of pictures of other girls saying "I wish I was them" makes me think, why? It's not worth it by any means at all. I wasn't as extreme as some of the girls, but believe me whether you're fully into it or not, it doesn't matter who you are or what you've done, you'll be known for the wrong reasons by people you've never even met before if you choose to act that way. Plus you see stuff that just kills certain bands and people for you as well.

I still hear stuff about certain people that are still into that "lifestyle" for lack of better word. Right now their lives are entirely comprised of going to shows and getting wasted with whomever they can find afterwards. It's fun to them, but the fact that most aren't in school or have jobs (yes, some girls have neither and just full-fledged partying) is going to kill them 2-3 years down the road whenever younger, prettier, not as used up girls spring into the "scene". Where are they going to be? Getting a late start at "real world" lives.

Not to trash on the past 3 years of my life completely, but I did meet a handful of genuine people that still check in on me every so often to this day. I'd like to think though that I would have still met them sans hardcore drinking and partying though. For every "good person" I met, there were triple the amount of shitty people I had to encounter, which I could have cut out completely had I not done that sort of thing.

I just take it as a learning experience now, I've moved on and learned from it all, albeit I have a pretty tainted view of the scene and a good chunk of the people in it as well as the industry, but that comes from having to learn the hard way.

I think you're right...you just have to learn the hard way, which is unfortunate, but sometimes that's just what it takes. I've never been involved in the "scene" or anything, but it really does make me sad to see so many young girls throwing their lives away. But you are right, a couple years down the road, they are going to wake up and realize what they are doing and how they are throwing their lives away and hopefully turn around. It is never too late to change. Partying with bands has such a luxury attached to it, so a bunch of people wish that they could do it, but they don't think about all the negative aspects to it or all of the god awful things they would be exposed to. If you're into that sort of thing, maybe it's just a learning/growing experience until you realize what the hell you're actually doing to yourself. Like I said before, these girls just need more self-respect. And it is good that you could find some people that genuinely do care about you. That just goes to show that not EVERY "rock star" is an asshole or whatever...
