There are way too many great bands with great lyrics to mention. I've always been a fan of Blake Schwarzenbach's lyrics, and E from Eels. He is a good lyricist. As is Darren Halon. Lots of clever wordplay from him. Bear vs. Shark have some great lyrics also. An example below...

Well I think the lyrics in the chrous are possibly the best I have ever had the privilage to listen to, so therefore in a thread where I am asked to state what song I believe has the best lyrics, I'm obviously going to put that particular song.
