Gynaecologist appointment

yeah none of my female friends have been to one so any females here go get themselvs checked out?

I never went to get myself checked out before. I'm not sexually active....do I still need to get a check up? I'll probably force myself to go I guess...whats the first check up like? Is it really that invassive?

yeah, you should go. they say that everyone should go after they are 18 i think...and yes, it is invasive, and if you're not sexually active, be prepared for it to hurt.

Tip: Take some music that relaxes you, it might take your mind off of things and not make you so nervous.

Both times I went to the lady parts doctor, I stayed fully clothed and the doctor gave me medicine pediatricians give kids who wet the bed because he claimed I had a blood clotting disease. :shrug:

But he did say that the only real need to go to a gyno was once after you turn 18 for a checkup and then the REAL stuff happens 2 yrs after to your first act of intercourse.

it's really not THAT bad. it's a good thing to have done, so you know you're healthy and alright. they just check for stds (if you're sexually active) and cervical cancer and what not. there are a lot of things that could be going wrong, even if you aren't sexually active (i.e. yeast infections). you do have to get completely naked, which is awkward, but they give you a robe so you aren't fully exposed. i'm not sure how long it takes, because i've never timed it, but i would guess about 30-45 minutes. you just need to find someone with whom you are comfortable, which can be hard, but believe me, it's a lot better in the long run. good luck!!
