but can't get over...for 5 years I've loved this girl, I've mailed her a couple mixes before but this one I love...I don't like to freak her out with too much mushy shit so I mixed it all up:

she's more into the acousticky slow stuff but I like the more punk/hardcore side of things, so I combined the two sorta. 24 songs on one cd, craziness.

There has to be a flow? I just randomly throw good songs on mixes...
I thought only fuckin DJs had to make mixes flow. You don't make punk 'flow'.
Maybe I don't belong in the business of mixtapes but I listen to my own mix all the time.
Oh and about doubling up, sometimes I like to put 2 songs by all the bands on the cd. I have 16,000 songs in itunes dude it's not like I don't have other songs. I just don't like 4934756 bands on one mix.

Yeah. Good point. It's a playlist, and not a true mixtape (or mixcd :-p )
But, you know, whatever floats your boat. If you like multiple tracks from one band and no flow, then go for it. A mix is the feeling you get from the songs, or the feeling the you think the reciever will get. That's all that matters :-)

I guess I enjoy making playlists more than mixtapes per se. I like a variety of music, and I pick songs differently for me vs. other people. Like if I'm making it for me, I look for a certain feeling the instruments/beats themselves give me. When I make cd's for others, I look more closely at the words instead. I'm not into words much, which is probably why I suck at mixtapes lol.

mix tapes dont need flows
but if you want a good mix tape thats what it needs.
it makes a huge difference in the end.
