Their album is just mediocre. Sure a coupple good songs but a lot felt like pop punk rock or some emo shit I'm surprised. Must be the face down video being on rotation on mtv a lot

Really? That's kinda like saying that if you have not been a president in the US, then you can not say anything bad about Bush, or if you havn't ever been a teacher then you can't make fun of one of your shitty teachers. I don't even know you, but I'm pretty sure you just labeled yourself a hypocrit.

The truth is, most people that regularly visit this site know a decent amount about music. They know the difference between a band making a phenonemal album and a band getting lucky because every 12 year old girl in the country loves the single "Face Down." Trust me, I've seen the crowd that follows RJA and it's not the 'hey im keen on musical talent' crowd... its the 'OmG tHIS baNd LIKE hAS onE SOnG ThAt looKs SOOOOOO cooL oN My aWaY MeSsAgE!!!' crowd.

Granted, I do like a few songs by RJA. However, I would not say that their fame and success have come from their musical talent. Their fame and success has strictly come from one single that hit it off with underage girls. At Warped Tour this summer, 90% of their crowd (mostly girls) seemed appalled by the fact that they were screaming in most of their songs, and they left promptly after "Face Down."

Over It deserves this more than RJA.

how did 500,000 people buy this record?

lucian guthrie
11/27/06, 08:27 PM
so you go gold when you ship 500,000? cos last week their record hadn't even scanned 200,000. i didnt know you could go gold by shipping 500,000 copies of your album out regardless of what its ACTUALLY sold. ill have to do that sometime so i can have a gold record in my house.

Surefire ways of selling 500k+ albums:
Now thats what I call music XX
Appeal to 12-16 y.o. girls (i.e. Panic! At the Disco, Hannah Montana, AAR)
Make shitty generic radio rock so you get spins on the rock stations (i.e. Hinder, RJSA, Nickelback)

So you imply AAR or Panic! really planned all of what they became with their first records?!?

I'm just saying that their style of music appeals to that age group and helps sells records. I'm not here to debate whether or not they made it in order to appeal to them. I'm just saying it does.

Im 21 and i fucking love Panic! at the disco! love Strung Out, Nofx and Lagwagon too but i dont give a fuck, for me its always been about good melody and something that draws me into a band that make me like them and Panic! have that. yeah im not the biggest AAR or RJA fan but they have some okay tunes. Not so sure if they deserve to go gold though? Over it definatly deserve it more!

Check out my band I think we deserve to go gold! ;)
