i dont know. i was gonna take the ACT if i fucked up the SAT, but it turns out the SAT wasnt so bad.

yeh, the act is easier i suppose. you do all the math and reading and whatnot in one section each, so you dont go back and forth like you do on the SAT

it depends on what your strengths and weaknesses are. i ended up getting the exact same equivalent score on both tests.

I've heard that the ACT is easier. I didn't take it since my SAT scores were good enough. A teacher told me that the ACT is better if math is your weakness.

Let's see...
My scores:
ACT : 32/36 = 88.8%
SAT (old version) : 1320/1600 = 82.5%
So it seems like I did better on the ACT.

wow, you got a 32 and you made this kind of judgment? in order to know which you did better on, you must look at percentiles...
...
You're an idiot.

I heard that the ACT is easier (I only took the SATs) but I took the SATs before they changed the format/scoring

yes, ACTs are easier. they encourage guessing. also, youre tested on four subjects and they dont flip back and forth like SATs do

they both suck. i bombed both of them, but i still got into college, so hey.
I just took the ACT yesterday and found it significantly harder than the SAT for me.

yeah, the ACT was a lot easier. just drink a couple cups of coffee before you go to take the test, and the time limits won't be a problem.

i just took it today.............easy as fuck

I'm a canadian so i don't really know much about these tests. But isn't it true that both the ACT and SAT are standardized tests and your will get rated against others who take it and belong to a certain percentile?

Well, it depends on what you're best at. The ACT tries to get away from the reasoning aspect of the SAT. The ACT's more straight forward and you don't have to infer/reason as much. So if you're good at thinking your way through things instead of just knowing cold facts, there's a good chance the SAT is gonna be easier.

I think if you have shitty time management than I think ACT would be harder, especially with the science section. hell i have decent time management and it still fucks you over (i got a 32 on it and a 32 overall but it was still hard) and also, if yur on extended time, dont take the ACT. plus it is SO HARD to qualify for extended time on the ACT.
but overall, ACT is so much better. they only report your best score. no guessing penalties. no so much stress on critical reading, which i suck at (i got my worst score on that section, which is not saying much i guess cuz i got a 30 on the ACT and a 630 on the SAT). Best of all, for most universities, if u take the ACT then u dont have to do SAT or SAT 2s. solid deal to me.
as far as easier, i thought ACT was easier, but its all preference.

If you're better at the linguistics side of things as opposed to the mathematics side, then yes, the ACTs are easier.

I'm more of a math/science kid and i though the ACT was so much better... but i kinda ran out of time on the science section
I even took the princeton review SAT classes... but still did better on the ACT
34 on ACT vs 1480 on the SAT... but thats cuz im good at math and got a 790 there and 690 on english :( i bombed the writing on both: 29 on ACT and 660 on SAT

I got a 1220 on the old SAT. And I didn't study. If anyone wants my score It's up on ebay. I'll get you a link.

I think the ACT is easier. Most of the math questions are geometry level, whereas the SAT goes beyond that. I personally think the reading passages on the SAT are harder. And the science section of the ACT is bull. If you can read a graph, you'll ace it.

since my weakness is math, i suppose i should take the ACT then? but what if i don't do well on that, can i take the SATs afterwards?
also, someone told me that taking the ACT replaces your SAT 2's. is that true?

I found the ACT extremely easy, especially considering that I ended up taking the test very early in the morning with a hangover from the night before. Even with my massive headache, I managed to score a 34 on it.

I took the general, non-specialized tests in both, and I got essentially equivalent scores on both. It was 100% pointless. Only do one or the other, see what your schools need. Neither was harder.

I think it depends on how you learn. ACT is obviously more practical to study for because it's subject-based, whereas you need to practice the SAT and merely learn how to take the test.
I did better on the SAT, but I think it's a crap-shoot. They're both unfair and racist anyway.

what do i do?

act is harder. you get almost a 1/4th of the max total points on the sat just by filling out your own personal info like your name on the sat.
Does the ACT take as long as the SAT?
