i'm pretty suspicious of most catchers who randomley hit 40 home runs after their career high was 15 at the peak of the steroid era (1996)
cmon now, everyone loves a good witch hunt, gimme names
one of the most blatant ones i'd never thought of before was jason kendall, yeah, it's purely coincidence that he completely stopped hitting home runs once they began testing for steroids

so you pulled about 90% of those names out of your ass?
if you wanna call looking at stats and trends pulling names out of your ass? yes, that's what a witch hunt is. suspect with me, it's fun. cmon, look at players stats in the 90s and see the giant peak that starts in 1996 for no reason and ends abruptly in 2003.
to be fair. mota from the mets.

1996 was his only full season in the majors at the time. He was riddled with injuries before that. On the pace he was at before that year, he would have had about 20-30 HR's in the years he only hit 14 and 15. Look at it that way and then look at his stats: 20 HR's, 25 HR's, 25 HR's, 30 HR's, 41 HR's.
Doesn't seem that suspicious.
BUT you do bring up a fair point.

Going to have to disagree on the Dean Palmer and Jason Kendall assumptions. those seem far fetched to me.
Palmer had a great year while playing in texas, not hard to do.
Kendall's HR's have declined but it's not like it went from 25 HRs down to 8. It went from 14. not that big of deal. And now, he's hitting even less homeruns because he's almost 33 years old, been riddled with injuries, and plays the most difficult position in baseball.

dude, kendall went from hitting double digits in home runs to none. home runs don't make you hit 40 home runs, kendall obviously has no power, you just don't go from hitting 14 home runs to 0 and 1 in consecutive seasons. and honestly, what position would you need roids in the most other than pitcher? catcher.
also, you're supposed to be hitting your power peak in your early 30s.
bigmike

also, you're supposed to be hitting your power peak in your early 30s.
Yeah. But early 30's for a catcher who's caught 8-9 years already in the big leagues is different from early 30's for an OF. I'll concede on Jason Kendall but whatever.
Also, add Ivan Rodriguez to the list. He may already be there and I just overlooked his name, but dude's suspicious as well.

salmon might have just got naturally hurt, but his stats definately declined after steroid testing.
nomar's always been a popular name for steroid use. he got really jacked one year out of nowhere and had injury problems from that point.

i really don't care either way, i'm just trying to play devil's advocate, but why does pujols get a free pass? it's not just from you, but from the world. there's the same 'evidence' for him as there are for others that people assume are users. not to mention the fact that his long time personal trainer showed up on grimsley's list.
i'm just curious to why we can be so quick to point fingers elsewhere, but as soon as fingers head towards pujols it's a ridiculous assumption.

because anyone else i've put down had inflated numbers during the steroids era and dropped off the planet as soon as they were tested or came out of nowhere right around 1996.
if you accuse pujols you'd have to accuse ortiz, manny, howard, miggy cabrera, and anyone else producing today, which makes no sense since there is testing now.

that's what it's come down to. if ryan howard tested positive tomorrow, would it surprise anybody? not saying he is, but you know there's that doubt out there just because of how baseball's gotten.
this is exactly my point about mcguire going into the hall of fame. how can you keep people out when it's all assumption and nobody knows who was and who wasn't on roids?
so no one can have a good season anymore without have to be questioned about steroids? haha
p.s. i cant believe i'm arguing FOR shawn green
49 home runs don't usually come out of nowhere for players who hit like 15-25 home runs in non steroid era seasons

ooh good one
haha or maybe any 2nd baseman that hits homeruns other than soriano?

Fernando Tatis was probably juicing. 2 grand slams in an inning, haha.

there's testing for steroids, yes. but not for human growth hormone.
that's my point though. if you accuse him, you have to accuse everybody else. it's the same as the list you put up. they're all accusations. there's more to steroid usage than power numbers. look at everybody who tested positive before palmerio. they were all nobodys.
if you're gonna start pointing fingers and branding cheaters, where do you stop?

Haha. I was cringing. That was the last straw with astro-turf with me.
b.j. surhoff looks like a pretty good candidate too which sucks cause i like beej a lot just based on his really strange career
basically, surhoff's career is like if you took two completely different players and combined them to make one career, it makes absolutley not sense

Bobby Higginson has a major case of "Sucks" more than Roids. Dude couldn't hit a Curveball, especially after he got paid. And then he couldn't get healthy. And roids or not, we gave that shithead $53 MILLION DOLLARS.
Fair enough.
Jeremy Giambi? Theres a reason a career AAAA player made the majors.
ha, yeah, it's called big bro, same reason ozzie canseco made the majors

Haha. But he put up better numers than Ozzie I do believe. I still remember seeing Ozzie play for the Atlantic City Surf. What an embarassment.

Yea. Just think og how many players made the majors due to steriods. The numeber is probably very high. Most guys who dont have the talent to make it on their own do steroids and tuen out to be average plaers at best. It's sad because I bet there are a lot that we would never expect due to ther mediocre career in the majors.

Glenallen Hill, juiced or not, hit the longest homerun i've ever seen. I remember watching this game live.

i think of the exact same thing every time i hear his name too. it's even more ridiculous if you watch the swing in slow motion. it's not even a full swing really.
that thing is mind bogglingly amazing.

I know dude. Everytime his name gets braught up or something to do with a long HR is braught up, i post this video. It's like a three quarter swing and it's on the roof across the street. Roids or not, that's fucking insane. Love that video.
