There was a discussion on the main page a few days ago in response to Billie Joe Armstrongs feelings about this country being too dependant on oil.
Now anybody who knows me knows that I detest celebrity liberals who think they are moral authoritys on what is going on in the world. But the bottom line is, he was right. America is way too dependant on oil and it is crushing us as a nation.
A few months ago Anti-Flag organized the ill fated attempt at having people not buy gas for a day, I am sure Anti-Flag used that day to drive across the country in their monster tour buses counting their money and making sure every interviewer they talk to knows that they are vegan.
Anyways let me get back on track...quitting oil is like quitting smoking, it has to be done in steps. Lets start taking those steps.
I propose that for the month of January, for every wednesday of the month, you carpool...everywhere you can. Carpool to class, bring your lunch to work instead of driving to McDonalds on your break...carpool to the bar after work, and carpool home (or take a taxi if you are drunk). Then, in Febuary, you carpool on Wednesdays and Fridays.
You will save money, keep from putting miles on your car, and stick it to big oil all while getting where you need to go.
Whats everyone think?
