I thought their self titled was average and over produced, but either way a band isn't bad cause there on FBR but it's only natural to assume that they are going to be a Fall Out Boy style band, which I don't have much interest in hearing. Therefore i don't check them out so much.

Yeah. So Sudden is the only one I have and Like Vines wasn't out when I started listening to them. They're both great albums, but I like So Sudden better. I've heard Like Vines a lot too.

I totally agree. It sucks they get all the crap that all FBR/Decaydance bands do, they are a stand out from all those bands and deserve a better label.

I agree on the maturity front; the songs were lyrically more mature and musically I thought Goodbye Blues has some great instrumentation. I thought Bob's guitar, especially, was a lot better used on Goodbye Blues than on the other albums. What do you think are the worst songs on Goodbye Blues?

That's Okay is because it sounds WAY too much like Hurricane (probably their best song, btw) and the only thing to save As You Cry is the catchy chorus.

Probably my biggest problem, two of the songs on there I would rank as top three worst THS songs if I had to. But those first four songs (not counting the intro/interlude) and Hospital Bed Crawl I would probably rank in the top eight.

His songs completely ruin the flow of the album and distract from the big picture. It sounds more like a mix tape than a cohesive whole, and I think it really hurts them. If they broke up and went solo Greta would probably have quite a future ahead of her, and Bob would more than likely blend in with the other 85,317 people with similar voices and guitar tones currently playing in the FBR family.

Like Vines is easily their masterpiece. So Sudden sounds like what it is - a young band trying to distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack, but not always succeeding and sounding a little generic at times. On Like Vines they hit on all cylinders and carve out their own little space. The songwriting is top notch, the production values are solid, every song flows perfectly into the next. Then comes Goodbye Blues which is 3/4 of an amazing album and 1/4 boring sound-alike filler.

Of course don't go voicing opinions such as this on the official Hush Sound message boards, you'll get tarred and feathered lol

Haha ouch on what you're saying about Bob, but i get where you are coming from. But from bios about them, Gretta and Bob have been close for quite awhile, so i bet if The Hush Sound broke up, Bob would still play guitar in her band haha.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Bob's songs ruin the flow, if they do, then it's on Goodbye Blues, not on the previous two albums. As far as i know, Bob writes a lot of the music for The Hush Sound, not just the songs he's singing in. But don't get me wrong, i'm sure Gretta does her part.

They both are probably still under some sort of contract by FBR, so if they broke up now and had to write an album for FBR, they'd have trouble getting their feet off the ground. Gretta has the potential for a Rilo Kiley or Jenny Lewis career, and i don't know if FBR would support that.

I have to say that while I love every single one of the Hush Sound's CDs, people that like music that's a little more mainstream (I'm not saying that you are, it's just a general statement) tend to lean towards Goodbye Blues.

I guess I wasn't clear enough in my post, but that's exactly what I meant. On the previous albums it sounds like the whole band is working towards a cohesive sound. I have to say that while I love every single one of the Hush Sound's CDs, people that like music that's a little more mainstream (I'm not saying that you are, it's just a general statement) tend to lean towards Goodbye Blues.
Yeah, maybe because it's more poppy I guess. To be fair I haven't listened to their other albums all the way through to can't make a really good comparison ... ah well, I'm sure I'll stumble accross a copy of Like Vines someday.

The Hush Sound is an awesome band, but I dont see them lasting much longer. They are, according to Bob at one of their recent concerts, going on a short hiatus right now, and from what I've heard there has been personal issues within the band.

Seriously? I was just looking somewhere that said they were trying for another album after the hiatus. As for personal issues....I could imagine with Chris (cause he left) but I could never imagine a problem between Bob and Greta. No way.

I'm really excited for Greta's solo show. I'm trying to secure some way of going, but I hope it's awesome. Doesn't say a lot for the future of the Hush Sound, but either way, it's a relief to see that Greta's going to be playing some new songs.

I agree, I was kinda torn when I heard the news. On one hand, if THS did split up, it would be nice for Greta to continue doing music, but I would rather THS continue. Hopefully she's just branching out into other things.

Like Vines is really good. So Sudden's also got some really good songs and is a good album, but as they're younger, I personally think you can really hear the changes in Greta's voice. I still love Greta's voice on So Sudden, but she doesn't go through as much of a range as she does on Goodbye Blues.

Does anyone know if Matt's become a permenant member of THS? He was featured on a lot of their tour videos, and was also in the Medicine Man video. Just wondering if there was anything official.

i love the hush sound. they're basically my favorite band.
