they say the seasons are tried and true,
that the leaves fall differently each september passing,
and the hands once held become mere remnants of last fall's ember hue.
they say it begins so unexpected,
that a first encounter could bring two strangers helplessly together,
but the hurt that was to come would remain almost undetected.
they say it was never built to last,
that those photographs capturing each perfect moment in every single frame,
would end up nestled in the perfect memory of the perfect past.
they say the heart always mends with time,
that september evenings begin to feel a little warmer,
and the hating turns to aching turns to just a heartless crime.
they say nothing lasts forever,
that letting go doesn't have to mean giving up,
but i kept those perfect frames, making letting go... a never.
