I don't know if you're aware of this, but in the NHL today, the Colorado Avalanche signed Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne (sp? on both)....anyways both those guys are amazing, and as if the avalanche weren't stacked with player's enough already.
oh and my team, the red wings signed darien hatcher as a free agent. woo! oh and the red wings are also trying to sign Dominik Hasek out of retirement. and they say it will go through for sure if everything goes as planned.
just a little hockey news for anyone who cares.

way to go Boston, the biggest hockey market in the US and they won't sign a free agent to save their life...they refuse to pay money for anyone that is any good, they passed on Tchekmanek (sp?), Karyia, Selanne, and Hatcher...its sad really. if they had a solid goalie and a defensemen or two, they'd be contenders. They won't sign anyone because its rumored that after next season there will be a lock out and they won't play that season of hockey.

it's Cechmanek, I think.
The Avs. made another trade, sending Reinprecht off in a three-way deal with Calgary and Buffalo...while the Leafs are sitting idly by. :(

isnt detroit the biggest 'hockeytown' in the US?
oh ya, I once had respect for anyone who played for Colorado, but I now hate all of them. Paul Kariya is a tool, hes like the Avril Lavigne of the NHL.

Ok, every retard who wants to win just goes to either Detroit, or Colorado. Its like a monopoly.....BS. They need to have a salary cap or something, like football.
Its my patriotic duty to hate the Leafs. That and I just dont like them.
And finally, I like the canucks. they make me wet.

yeah, they gave themselves that name, and it is pretty big there but mainly because they've won several cups and are always in contention, and their ownership spends money rather than hordes it like the bruins do. overall, boston is said to have a bigger fan base, but i doubt its as big as canadian teams..

that is why there will be a lock out, because the owners want a salary cap and the players don't...it has to happen though, to save the sport, there are so many teams in finacial trouble that the whole league could be ruined if they don't do something about it.

Good. I'll sacrifice a season to get that. And I hope Buffalo gets something good out of that three-way trade. They wont tho...

yeah but chess players have tournaments too. and i dont think youre THAT dumb as to think chess is a sport
FishAlotNBePunk

haha yeah chess is definately not a sport. its a game. but fishings not a game. i guess its sort of on the line between passtime and sport.
wow, thats quite the FA signing. Too bad Roy retired, he was my favorite player =(

damn sometimes i really hate being a st. louis fan. they'll pay just enough to be competetive but not enough to actually win. when roy retired i thought maybe things in the west were changing, but fuck, we can't compete with kariya and selanne along with the already stockpiled avs. we needed a defenseman to ease the burden for macinnis who is ancient, but then we let hatcher go to detroit and we'll sign some no-namer who will put in 10 minutes a game and be decent but will be somewhere else next year.
this sport really needs a salery cap, and it needs to close down a few of the smaller clubs to raise the talent level across the board. 2.00 GAA is all well and good for close games, but it will kill the sport. its the same reason why nobody in the US likes soccer. you watch a game for two hours and get bored to tears.
