Lately it seems that some debates/arguments on this site have gone in circles and its the same sides every time. We have also been bickering with each other more and more and some have even become disgruntled with administration.

so I ask, should we try and expand this forum, bringing in more kids from the outside or other forums on ap...or, should we try to make our own message board and really promote it to get new blood in the mix?


Either way, I think new posters would be a healthy change for our sports forum.

young blood will make things worse...greater divide, more drama, more bullshit...and far more annoying. sure you'll have some good kiddies, but the bad apples will spoil the site for a period of transition time.

not if we make our own message board. I think we have tapped all our resources on this site, but moving to bring in new blood from outside sources could lite a spark here.

and it doesn't matter where they come from. As long as that person can engage in intelligent and rational sports debates (and is not a homer), it should be fine.

and I think this could start with Still_life. As much as he sucks, he does know a little bit about football.

Doug, I think if you expanded on your Seattle idea to the whole league, that would be an interesing article.

on top of that, you could look at the teams who had great success in the late 90's, early 2000's and write an article about how they failed to maintain.

I honestly think that a lot of people just debate a little harder because they know each other more than other people so its button pressing. I dont really see anything different about this forum from back in the summer. Ive been trying to get a few friends who are knowledgable (kingofflushing is intelligent trust me) so that theres some fresh opinions as well. Plus they like different teams. One kid likes the orioles. That could be interesting.

Whatever it may be, Im in favor of going to another message board and having people post. But I have a feeling everyone would just come back to this board anyway. The board over at headphonesturnedon.com could use a few people so if 10 of you guys want to invade that so be it.

pretty much the experience we've gotten from "expanding" so far...and it's not like we're an exclusive forum, people can come in and out, they just tend to have little viable opinion, and thus get run out.

Besides, advertising the forum doesn't work...Tate already did it all the time last winter, and not taht many people stayed when they came in...because all they would type is "I love Gerry McNamara" or "Lebron is god", get yelled at, and then leave.

Basically, if people have sports knowledge, and they want to share it, they'll come in here and do it...

Yeah...I like this site, it's incredibly functional and free...and aside from occasional power trip bannings it works really well for all of us. Until I am given a really good reason (read: I get banned for something stupid), I'm probably just going to stay here...no real reason to move elsewhere.

Well, we get that reputation because we are the only non-subjective forum that I know of....I mean, Sports has a definitive score to decide if your argument is right or wrong...you can't do that in music. So, when a music person with little sports knowledge makes a point and is wrong, they have trouble dealing with being told they are completely wrong...since it's not subjective.

In that sense, I understand wanting a different site for this forum to work under...but ultimately I am also listening to alot of the music here too...so I like the duality. I also like discussing movies and other stuff in other forums...so, I think an isolated sports forum would take that away from me.

see, I think the discussion here is going down hill. Whenever we debate its usually a couple people choosing sides and the debate has no room to grow. I understand sometimes the sports world is slow and thus we have nothing to talk about, but it seems like we cannot even discuss general topics anymore because its all been done.

who else besides knifeparty tried to leave? We could definitely do this if we get a strong core from here posting regularly and keeping fresh topics.

I'd love to do it too, but I don't think I will have time to organize everything. I start working next monday and I'll be gone pretty much from 6:30AM until around 9PM Monday thru Friday. And the weekends will consist of me sleeping. I wouldn't mind writing an article for it though. If anyone wants to do it, I can send you the old document and all you have to do is add the new articles and so forth.

But, ideally, a different board or website, away from AP I think is something I'd be interested in because this forum is great, but it'd be even better if more people who know what they're talking about could participate, which isn't happening on a music based website.

We got lucky with the right group here, but we're ready to go bigger. Our discussions are losing interest because there are no new people offering their own views and opinions.

Yeah...that'd work...even a Wednesday, so NFL people have an extra day to write stuff and send it. I'll probably write most of my stuff over break and spread it out over the next few months, editing as I go.

Im actually working on getting a few people to join who know their stuff..the kid who I am friends with posted the other night but posted crap. Im working on him and he does know his shit. Also a friend who likes the orioles a red sox fan phillies fan and yankee fan who I am all friends with are joining as well..they all know their stuff and would be excellent additions
