My thoughts are that Jack will die. The movie will play as a prequel with hopefully George Mason, Michael Madsen, Dennis Hopper and others. Of course, that's just my dream because I don't think they could retro-age the entire cast.

But I just can't imagine how he'll get out of this alive.

Yeah that is the way it seems like it is going.

I was thinking about Iron Man the entire time during that scene. Only Jack Bauer is more badass than Iron Man.

I don't see how Jack can get out of this alive. I hope he does though.
Slow start to the season, but the past few episodes has been massive! I love it! Although I can't decide wether or not Jack is killing only cause of what happened to Renee, or if it's partial cause of Renee and partial "bringing justice". Killing everyone is not justice though. haha. Jack Bauer is a twisted man.

I think it is a mix of both but I don't think it ends with Jack alive. It has been a great ride and tonight should be amazing.

I sure hope it ends with him being alive! Annie (who plays Renee) said "don't know who's going to be in the movie, obviously Jack/Kiefer will be in it". I hope they're not giving us false hope about the movie, if Jack actually dies this season. That would suck!

Are you out of your mind.
That ending was awful.
Up until 2 weeks ago that show was awesome and the last 4 episodes were awful. Just AWFUL!

I could have wrote something better than that ending.
If Jack would have taken the shot or something to happen would have been awesome...This reminds me when Jack goes on hide from another country...cough cough, he already hid from the Chinese...same plot = stupid!

Getting mad at 24 at this point for repeating storylines is like getting mad because it's violent. Comes with the territory.

Yea, definitely disagree. Thinking about it further, the finale just felt like "Ah, we're going to make a movie so who cares about putting time into this." It just felt like one big straight line. No one's death, including Logan, really felt shocking. And it just kind of ended.

The one thing I was really disappointed about was no Aaron Pierce. His streak is broken.

Agreed on both accounts. Although I* thought they said that he was still alive and could survive but he might be brain dead. I wish Aaron could have had even a small cameo.

i think it's safe to say the series finale was alright .. it was definitely the safest way the writers could do with.

The entire 8 season show would have ended up meaning a whole lot more to me if Jack died in the very last episode.

That's good, I figured they'd give it closure in a film(s). I missed it because I had class, and I got it on DVR for when I get off work.

Surprisingly enough, one of my favorite aspects of the finale was the way Cole was looking down at the ground in despair while Jack was on the big screen. It really seemed to convey the mood of the day's events so well, coupled with that last conversation between Jack and Chloe.

The majority of the final two hours felt very anti-climactic to me after such a stellar winding down in the previous episodes. Having Logan shoot himself seemed like a major cop out, and I would've respected the writers much more if they would've had the balls to let Jack shoot turkey neck, but die in the process of getting his revenge. If there's one dude in the 24-verse who deserves an epic, unforgiving beatdown for his transgressions, it's Logan. Great, great actor though. I understand the need to keep Jack alive, although I was beginning to believe all that film talk might actually have been a red herring with the way he was bleeding out. I read a brief interview that most of the surviving cast wasn't being included in the film's script though. Not sure if it's for the purpose of the story or because they're not recognizable enough for a major movie, but I think they should do it for the fans and let us see the characters we love...the ones that have yet to be killed anyway.

It didn't hit me til' this morning that LOST is over, and now so is 24. This is the end of a major era for serialized television, regardless of what people may have felt about both finales. I loved LOST's, and appreciated where 24 left off, but no other shows are gonna be able to replicate what they did for a loooooong time. I know I enjoyed it while it lasted.

Decent ending. It did feel too much like the season 4 ending but I still enjoyed it. I wish Jack ended up killing Zubarov. I love how many times Jack gets severely injured throughout the season but always manages to walk and kill just fine. He was stabbed pretty badly by Renee then stabbed again then shot but still manages to be able to walk and everything just fine. Just thought that was entertaining

Isn't that the point of writing a TV show...?

Anyway I liked the finale. In my mind there's only 2 ways 24 could have ended; Jack dies or Jack goes rogue. It kind of sucks that they're just doing this to set up the movie, but the reverse clock and Jack's goodbye to Chloe got me.

My two favorite shows, gone on back to back days. I enjoyed the 24 finale, and I like that someone finally stepped up and did the right thing, when President Taylor admitted to the wrongdoing of herself. I feel like it was a fantastic way to end that story.

I liked the ending of the series. Jack thanking Chloe got me a bit choked up. I can't wait to see where they go with the movie. Poor Jack can never be happy though, that much is definite. Can't believe 24 and LOST are gone. So sad. Television will never be the same.

I had a couple friends who haven't really watched 24 much at all watch the finale with me, and I gave them maybe a 2 minute synopsis of what was happening this season and they could pretty much follow the finale. Basically there are only 3 good people in the finale on Jack's side, them being Chloe, Cole (Freddie Prinze Jr.), and Arlo (nerdy computer guy). Three countries: US, Russia, and Kamistan, are trying to reach a peace agreement, but it would be a flawed peace because the Russians were actually involved in getting the Kamistan president assassinated. However, the US president Taylor wanted to sign the peace agreement so badly that she was willing to hide the Russian's involvement in the assassination in order to sign it. So Jack is trying to get the evidence out about the Russian's involvement, but the US president and therefore the whole government is against him and trying to bury the evidence!

So if you just want to understand the series finale that should be enough...but of course watching the older seasons is a good idea too, I have yet to do that. :)

Yeah, I don't really want to just watch the finale. For me, personally, the allure of 24 was the journey - the absolute mindblowing capacity that the show is in real-time and all these events are happening in one day. 24 is one of the shows that I think it's impossible (or unwise) to jump in midseason for an episode or two. The adrenaline rush and suspense of the show does not get to unravel in this way. So I'm just gonna do a full rewatch thanks haha

Just for fun I'll throw in mine...

5>3=7>1>2>8>4>6

4 would be higher if it wasn't for how ridiculous the plot kept getting, plus Curtis' mole GF really bugged me. 4 gets bonus points for Tony's save of Jack in the 6th hour though.
I wonder if the movie will end happy for Jack.
I sure hope so, but I doubt it will.

I think Jack dying at the end of a movie or movies would be such a cop out though. Same with an overly sappy ending. I genuinly hope that they don't do something predictable with it to end the storyline. That's why I liked the end of Season 8 so much, it was emotionally poignant, and I didn't exactly see it coming. I think an ending similar to that, albeit, more definitive, would make for an awesome end to this series that I have loved so much.
