i was a little upset iata didn't take round one, but the ffts guys seem to be genuinly good people, even though i couldn't get into their music so much. their singer even pointed out to me that they're the only one not on a "major" label and have been working hard for 4 or 5 years now. so that'd be cool if they win, even though i think halifax has this one.

My band played with FFTS a few months back and I thought they were the most disrespectful bunch of idiots I'd ever met. They took over the merch table and basically forced people to give them money. They were loud to the point of interrupting the set of the other bands. I get that they've worked hard to get where they are but they lost my respect that night.

Putting aside the fact that you think FFTS is terrible (which by itself is enough to make you crazy, in my opinion), the fact that you're calling into question the legitimacy of the outcome solely because you don't like them is stupid. People seem to forget that there is a far more simpler explanation for a band winning other than auto-clicking, bribery, etc.: they just plain had more votes. Was it surprising that FFTS won the first round? Maybe. Does that automatically mean they cheated? Hell no.

As a huge With Honor fan, I can definitely tell you that you are batshit loco.

I'm going to wrap this thing up with some random thoughts:

Halifax: maybe they're good dudes. If that's the case, then good for them if they win it. However, their music (at least what I've heard) reminds me of straight up 80s hair metal, minus all the fun, redeeming qualities.

Zolof: not really my style of music, but they seem pretty good at doing what they do. Besides, my coworkers who've met them tell me that they are nice, so I wouldn't be too upset if they won.

FFTS: never even heard of these guys before this contest, but I'm really glad that I have. Their show in Philly with IATA was fun times, and the members that I talked to were genuinely nice. Their EP has been in constant rotation since then, and even if they don't win, I see big things happening for these guys.

One last thing: if you like a band's music the most, think they're amazing people, or maybe you just think that they've worked the hardest for it, then vote your heart out. However, when all is said and done, respect whoever comes out on top, because chances are they had to work pretty hard for it. Peace.

As a huge With Honor fan, I can definitely tell you that you are batshit loco.


Halifax: maybe they're good dudes. If that's the case, then good for them if they win it. However, their music (at least what I've heard) reminds me of straight up 80s hair metal, minus all the fun, redeeming qualities.

Zolof: not really my style of music, but they seem pretty good at doing what they do. Besides, my coworkers who've met them tell me that they are nice, so I wouldn't be too upset if they won.


First off, I have every With Honor cd, I listened to like trumpets and the other FFTS songs, and they are close... especiallys the singing.

The 80s hair metal shit is why I dig Halifax. It is like a modern take on it. Watching them to behind the head solos, and tongue slides on the strings. That is original for this time period. Not my typical type of music, however they definitely turned me onto them when I saw em with Alexisonfire.

I hate Zolof for the song titles, the horrible lyrics. The singer looks like a 80s bubblegum pop singer. They are way too poppy compared to the other bands in this contest. They were better with Green.

You can like what you want, I asked legitimately for someone to name a band that sounds like Halifax. No one could.

i think it's really funny that everybody is trying to tear into ffts. when 99% of you have never heard of them before this contest. nor, have ever met them, they are so greatful to be where they are and what they're doing. they're also some of the hardest working group of kids i've ever met, and they're great friends of mine who i would do anything for. i think it's awesome that they got where they are without support of a bigger independent label, granted zolof isn't on a bigger indie, but they've had kenny from TSL singing on their record and mark hoppus backing them before (i've heard him talking about them before and wanting to produce their record, but i dont know if that actually went through).And halifax, well they're just too easy. so before you go and try to put down a band that you've never heard of before do some research and listen to them, give them a fair shot. they are one of the hardest working bands and have done everthing D.I.Y. up until this. and no matter the outcome youll be hearing from this great band again.

Ok ur gonna love me or hate me on this but I could give 2 fucking shits. Halifax is one of the hardest working bands on the scene. Let me tell you why...
I've done not 1, not 2, not 3, 4 but 5! Tours with halifax being with different bands and they have been the nicest, dudes ever. I'm on tour with them right now! I was at the taping for the mtv2 dew circuit show and for the past 2 years I've spent my thanksgiving with them. Not at home with families but last yr in oklahoma and this yr in nashville at dennys and shoneys. (I'm sure wed much rather be at home with our families eating in our houses) but no were in snow traveling playing shows for YOU. Vote for whoever you want but I wrote this for the kids who badmouth them. You don't know shit until you see what these guys go thru. Sign shit all night at the merch table, solos behind heads, playing embarassing cover songs for kids who want to hear them, tommy has been sick and the past two shows were played acoustic. Fair game for dew circuit as far as I'm concerned. But next time u wanna run ur mouth about a touring band. Take into consideration about what we go thru when ur on a msg board in the comfort of ur home while were freezing on tour away from our families for months at a time.

doesn't halifax have their OWN TOUR BUS right now, on the Hoobastank tour? also seems a little fishy that they already have a 5 dollar tour booked in " appreciation " to their fans...obviously they are going to win the dew circuit contest ( which we all know is heavily rigged for halifax ).

just saying, don't make them out to be these poor punk rockers struggling for success....having your very own tour bus seems pretty successful to me.

1. All three bands involved in the contest are great bands. I've known and worked with on different levels both Zolof and Halifax in the past. At the taping it was my first time meeting the Fallen from the Sky guys, and they were all very nice and friendly. In fact, all 3 bands were got along very well, and we all went out to the after party and got drunk together.

2. All 3 bands are completely different styles. You can't really compare them to eachother. Zolof is more like Motion City Soundtrack, Fallen is more like Hotwater/Rise Against/H2O, and Halifax is more of a mix of Motley Crue meets your Thrice/TBS/etc...

3. The $5 Halifan Appreciation tour is thanking their fans for their support - whether or not Halifax wins the contest. Its a win or lose (hopefully win) thank you to their fans to let them know how much their fans mean to them. The last few tours Halifax has supported on have had higher ticket prices, and its a chance to let fans go and get some $5 tickets out thru their fan club ticketing, and the rest for anywhere from $8 to $12, probably mostly $10.

4. In regards to being in a bus this tour, Halifax is doing it without any label tour support, and actually losing money by being in the bus. However, they are doing this tour in a bus so they can start writing their next record, as this tour popped up last minute and the band was supposed to be off to work on writing their next record.

Obviously, I'm biased in this situation and would like Halifax to win. But win or lose, the band had a great time, got some great exposure, and got to meet some great people. If you haven't met the Halifax guys before, don't judge them off what bs you may think about them. They are a very very hardworking band, tour constantly, and have been in a van for all tours aside from this current tour and warped.
