Here's a letter,
To people that could never see past our small town rivalry
A few thoughts have been crowding my mind, how could we get out of here
I sincerely hope we find ourselves out in the world
Cause in the end the number of lost chances just end up tallied and unaccounted for
As we lay in bed, listening to the ticking of the clock,
Watching slowly as each minute of every hour passes
We hold the ashes of the past four years in our hands
Knowing that the year's are burning by

So let me guide your hand across these maps
Where ocean and land collide
Sit down and watch with our blackened eyes
The ground it open ups, the water hits high tide
As the blood splashes down onto city streets
Never to know our place in time
(Our place in time)

Let's go.

Here's the return address,
In hopes people won't find out about our small town rivalry
Watching historical landmarks, watching small towns burning a little slower
I sincerely hope we find ourselves out in the world
Cause in the end the number of lost chances just end up tallied and unaccounted for
As I lie in bed, jotting the escape route onto paper
Taking the time to remember the moments passing
We hold the matches of the future in our hands
Please take this time to understand

So let me guide your hand across these maps
Where ocean and land collide
Sit down and watch with our blackened eyes
The ground it opens up, the water hits high tide
As the blood splashes down onto city streets
Never to know our place in time
Never to know our place in time
Never to know our place in time
Never to know...
Never to know..
Never to know
How I won’t miss this town at all. (Hold our place in time)

let me know what you think, thanks!

I liked this, a bit too simple at times but overall very nice. Keep writing, I'd like to see how you improve with time.

Thanks, I write a lot...But there are only a few songs that come together has nicely as this did. A few lines are a bit weak but nothing a little time away can't fix. Here are a few examples of some other stuff I've been working on..

Hello 2006,
Take a seat,
Get comfortable,
Make yourself at home,
For years war has been at our doorstep,
We welcome it in, 'cause home is where our story begins.

--wrote that on near years last year---

Every night before I sleep, I fight with my subconscious
I can't help but to take in the things I don't notice
And dream about it all night,
I hope, I hope I'm something you notice

As we roll down the highways and take off from runways
Where are we running off, too?
The skylines and bright lights that encompass our lives
(A world in which remain confused.)

It's a night spent all alone or an evening out with friends
There aren't too many other options
It's a night spent all alone or an evening out with friends
Searching for a place to get lost in

Every night before I sleep, I fight with my subconscious
Staring at a sky that nobody else is watching
And dream about it all night
I wish, I wish was something more than this
Instead of a star falling down to the Earth

Cause we're all playing a game for the public's acclaim
We've still got to pay our dues
Small towns and let downs, the drama that surrounds
(Take the time and try finding the truth.)

It's a night spent all alone or an evening out with friends
There aren't too many other options
It's a night spent all alone or an evening out with friends
Searching for a place to get lost in

You know there's no reason to plan for the weekend
When you know exactly how it's going to end
Clocking out on Friday, Sick of waiting contemplating

And so we say:
We all want something different
But the same ink lines these pages
We all want something different
But we know that nothing changes

We all want something different
Or something more or less the same
We all want something different
But we know things will never change

You know there's no reason to plan for the future
When you know that it will never involve her
Spending your whole night, alone and almost sober

And so we say:
We all want something different
Or something more or less the same
We all want something different
But we know things will never change

(BRIDGE)
Another late night tonight,
The headphones blaring inconsistent rhymes
The thought of you and me sends me back to track 4
Clocking in, it's 2 am
The low battery flashes, signaling it’s almost the end
And it seems like we've been here before

And so we say:
We say, we say anything
Seeking the recognition
Giving in, we're giving in
Giving into the repetition

And it's another late night tonight
The headphones blaring inconsistent rhymes
The thought of you and me sends me back to track 4

And it's another late night tonight
The headphones blaring inconsistent rhymes
The thought of you and me sends me back to track 4

Clocking out, it's 4 am
Low batteries fading out, yeah, the batteries are dead

^^^ that's one of my much earlier works^^^

I've done the revision on the casualties
So began the process of collectively collecting information
A play on words to the public, as hours went by (ours passed us by)
It wasn't worth it (was it worth it?)
I settled for something less then what was expected
It's been months since I've tried,
Could I get this right?
The war came to an end,
Our vision left us,
The jury took a stand,
And no one said anything remotely interesting

feed back would be great on these too...thanks.

ps. the song that i first posted is part of a project called The Zero Track (tentative), and basically i wrote that song wanting to get out of my small town and just go to college and get away from everything, but being away from home i've realized i actually feel quite the opposite as i did before i left...so the project is revolving around those thoughts and struggles...meh we'll see how it turns out...I don't want to be generic either.
