Yes it's a joke, and yes he has shoes coming out with Nike.

No he shouldn't have gone to college. He signed a 90 million dollar deal with nike and has all of the necessary talent.

Lebron signed a Nike deal for 90 million, he better sell a whole lot of shoes.

I can't wait to get paid in a couple of weeks, I want some Pumas real bad.

well yeah, if i was offered a 90 million dollar deal with nike i wouldn't go either, but i just think that he could've done a lot of good at some school, even if for only a year or so.

There is no reason to go to College. He won three state championships and High School, and one year of College would just be a waste of his time. What if he got hurt during that one year? He's smart, and knows what he is doing.

What's the kid gonna do when his career washes up? Sit around and be rich? Sounds cool at first, but it would get old after a while. I would have at least got an education.

kevin
07/05/03, 08:41 AM
He can still get a College education. It's not like the oppurtunity is gone.

Charlito Cafe
07/05/03, 08:43 AM
I don't know man. Once you hit your 30s it becomes really hard to learn anything. You're pretty much set in your ways. There's a reason we're sent to school as kids...possibly brainwashing...possibly because it's easier for us to learn.

kevin
07/05/03, 08:47 AM
He just signed a contract for 90 million dollars. When you have that, why care about a College education? Hes set for life, end of story.

wasted
07/05/03, 08:49 AM
i suppose after thinking about it, it is a smart choice for him to not attend college and head straight for the pros.

charlito cafe, even if his career did end in his thirties, which it most likely won't, lebron will be set for life. he won't need an education by then. he's what, 18 now? if he retires when he's 30, and with the amount professional basketball players get paid a year, he'll be quite comfortable. who cares about an education when you're a quadrillionaire.

Charlito Cafe
07/05/03, 08:50 AM
Well sure, if money is all you care about. Even if I was rich like that, once I couldn't play basketball anyomore the joy would be gone from life...I'd need something else to do, and probably kicking myself for not going to college.

On a side note, I think it's ridiculous that someone who plays a game really well get's paid that much money.

Fobika!

07/05/03, 08:53 AM
when lebron's career is over, and if he can't take being away from basketball, i'm sure that he could get a job coaching a team or something. there are plenty of ways for him to still be around basketball even if he can't play the game.

and yeah, i agree that they get paid entirely too much.

You are missing the point entirely. You don't need a college education to start your own business or work for a TV show once you are as famous and rich as he will be. Look at Michael Jordan, he owns a fair share of Nike and has his own clothing line. You don't need a college education to do something like that.

kevin
07/05/03, 08:56 AM
The salary is what is demanded right now. There is so much money in the sport that it's only fair for them to get paid that much.

Whatever floats your boat I guess. I just feel like so much oppurtunity is wasted when someone doesn't go to college.

Face it, the way America is set up, the goal is to earn as much as possible. That's why most people go to college. It's not for the joy of learning, it's for the chance of leading an affluent life. There are far too many risks involved in playing college ball, and every scout has said he has the skills to go pro. No one throws a shit fit when Jennifer Capriati turns pro in tennis at 14. He's old enough to make the choice for himself. No one needs to tell him what he should do.

He doesn't need College. He had one goal, to become a professional basketball player. He now has that oppurtunity, why would you delay it by going to college? Most kids only go to college to prepare for the NBA, or whatever sport they play, not to get an education.

Back to the topic, I have red on white with some grey thrown in Vans rowleys and navy blue on white with a tan sole Adio Kenny Anderson. I like the look of the Adios better, but they're a tad big and and not as comfy as my worn-in Vans.

Because college exposes you to a variety of opinons and ideas, and helps you move beyond whatever region you've been raised in. And thanx for the help on the quote deal.
