i don't necessaryily like the band a whole lot, they put on a decent live show. but i love their shirts that say "hali fuckin' fax" with "skeet skeet" on the back
that's good shit.

Although I really enjoy Halifax more than the other 2 bands, I think that Fallen From The Sky deserved to win.

not surprised. i feel like halifax has had more than enough chances to get big (real world, being on pretty big tours, having a MTV making the video special, and now the Dew curcuit). If they cant get big by now then tts time to give those type of oportunities to other bands.

dude, i dont think they should have been in this contest with all the backing they have.

what a fuckin surprise. in all honesty, this is bullshit. halifax didnt need this at all. they played both bamboozles this year with large crowds. i was ALL ABOUT iata for this, but if i DID have to see anyone win this besides them, i would've liked to see ffts or even zolof.

Halifax totally owned the competition. They outplayed all of the other bands. Though it still seems "cool" to hate on DTR and its bands which is fine by me, to each their own and such.
But these guys are great live and I am so glad that they won.

Let's see, Halifax is pretty well known with a big label like DTR backing them while Zolof and Fallen From the Sky have labels that don't have a large audience following.
Halifax winning is a no brainer

are you serious? it's not that it's "cool" to hate on DTR bands. It's the treatment they are getting over other bands, not only in the industry but to other DTR bands. Halifax has a pretty large fanbase already and had NO REASON to be in this contest.
i'm glad that iata didnt win this piece of crap contest-they are better than this and their fans will get them farther than DTR ever will.

What exactly does MTV2 do for the bands that win?
15 grand in equipment from guitar center and an opening slot for the bamboozle fest.
im sure halifax desperately needed both of these considering they already have top notch gear and booking agents and a better label than the other 2 bands.

Ya know it'd be nice to see a band that deserved this win this shit. Lorene Drive are the hardest working motherfuckers on earth and they got shafted.
and does anyone smell conspiracy between mtv2/mountain dew/ and drive thru....didn't fucking Hello Goodbye win this shit last year??
Both of which were on Real World.....both of which won this contest.....hmm...something just isn't right. Yeah, go ahead and say it, IATA is on drive-thru too and they didn't win.....but it doesn't matter....another fuckin' Drive Thru band that needed absolutely no more press.....
I think Stephanie and Richard are working up to Tony Brummel status....maybe I'm just putting my foot in my mouth too, but it's a free fucking country and I can say whatever the fuck I want.
Sorry....I'm just a little bitter....

The thing with DTR is that they pick the bands they want to help out (this is why IATA got no love). Yeah you're right though, Hello goodbye did win it last year because it's completely rigged for drive thru.
I agree though about Stephanie and Richard-they are working their way up to Tony Brummel status very fast. It's sad because that used to be a great label and now I think it's all gone to their heads.

DTR equally promoted Halifax and IATA in the semi-finals.
Any addiitional promotion you may have seen from Halifax, was done by Halifax, not DTR.

I love Halifax, I really do. But I don't think they needed to be in this competition. I know who Halifax are. I've seen them live, own their music, purchased their merch, etc. They've gotten the word of them around. But I think that there are other bands that could have used that chance way more than Halifax. I don't think they were anywhere near as 'unknown' as the rest of the bands in the competition.

The only reason why I make the Brummel connection is because of the whole situation where he told people to buy his cd instead of that one r&b/rapper/hip-hop guy...I'm not sure his name, but it's irrelevant.
The fact of the matter is that, Drive-Thru is pulling out any and all stops to get their bands noticed no matter what cost.
And for all you Halifax supporters talking of a great live show...I'm sorry, but my experience at a Halifax show was sub-par. Bunch of drunk dudes slurring lines and missing guitar parts...whatever trips your trigger though..everyone has their off nites, but you don't get drunk like catching the flu, so I think it was pretty controllable....

honestly most of the bands on this contest really don't need the recognition. If you have any type of ear in rock music you will at least heard of Zoloft, Halifax, and I Am the Avalanche...not to mention the rest of the bands. They really need to work on smaller, possibly on signed bands, but they wont and so people will continue to complain on here

So is MTV's obligation to Drive-thru records done? I mean, how ironic that HGB and Halifax were both on the austin real world, then coincidentally they both win year 1 and 2 of mtv2 dew circuit breakout. I really couldn't see THAT one coming! Hey Drive thru: Pay Up!!! bitches.

Halifax use to put on a good show. The first time I saw them was two years ago on some shitty small stage at warped tour. There were 30 people at the stage tops, and I sang my heart out. They played well, and were not drunken bafoons. They all hung out at their merch tent, and were really cool guys. I went to Dirtfest this summer and was completely dissapointed, the performance was horrible, and everyone in the band was wasted and encouraged crowd stupidity.

i dont know how the bands were chosen for this contest, but it's a no brainer that the band that is more well known will have more fans to devote their day to voting for them. the voting was online for an entire week and you could vote more than once, there was no advantage! when it comes down to it, the army of Halifax fans just worked harder. if they are sponsored by all those companies then yeah, them being in the running is kinda ridiculous but it doesn't change the fact that they were. so stop blaming conspiracies and other ridiculous things like that; it's just juvenile and it's not like Halifax winning affected your day-to-day life anyway.
