My favorite album would have to be Dark Side of The Moon, probably. It used to be the Wall, but I'm starting to lean toward Dark Side. Favorite song would have to be Comfortably Numb, though. It's such a beautiful song, and it has my all time favorite solo.

darkside used to be my favorite

it is one of the best albums of all-time

(not just an opinion, its practically science proven)

but i lean more on "wish you were here" and "animals"

"3 pigs" and "shine on you..." kick it

and the songs off of the "live at pompeii" dvd are great

I burned them on my comp cause they kill the actual recordings

I saw roger waters live last sept., and anyone here who went might agree he killed anything the rest of the gang ever put.

One of the biggest bands of all times. Sadly they're underrated, and don't get the credit they deserve. Their contribution to contemporary music is absolutely beyond any real attempt to describe it.

Piper At the Gates of Dawn is their best album by far. Syd Barrett is one of the greatest musicians and poets.
My favorite song by the band is probably "Interstellar Overdrive" Just because it's so chaotic, it's like a musical definition of chaos.

Syd Barrett probably has had the biggest influence on my own writing, and also how I look at things. Ever since Barrett, the abstract world has become one of the most important things.

Long live the Madcap.

Oh, I know. There are times when I quite like The Division Bell. Also: the P.U.L.S.E. live performance is pretty awesome.

I'm just a huge fan of 'original line-ups'...or as close as you can get, as Mr. Barrett is no longer with us.

I'm still not huge on the Final Cut... "featuring" Roger doesn't really seem like a good idea to me anyway lawlz

Brokenhill
02/01/08, 11:21 AM
I prefer the Roger era too, but I like Gilmour more. Even during the Roger, the songs where Gimlour sang and helped in writing, tended to be my favorites. (Comfortably Numb, etc.)

But AMLOR is def. not awful, I think it's a good album. Even asfter just the first listen through.

Interesting pick.
I think it may be because it's not as admired like Dark Side, but yet still a concept that's as big as the Wall. I feel certain parts of the Wall are lacking in certain sections of songs due to there being so many on the two cds, but Final Cut is 13 tracks that were layed down after the Wall and certain things were better understood I suppose. Like I said it's tough to describe. It is undeniable though that the Wall is one of the most incredible releases period. Also it may have been the tension between Gilmour and Waters during this time that really found its way into the record emotionally.

It's a great album, but it definitely is Roger-heavy in writing. But then again I like Roger's writing a lot, because The Wall is my favorite.

The thing is just that I can't come back to TFC as much or as often as any other Floyd record.

I like both of their voices. I prefer David's yes, but the sound to me doesn't completely matter, because the mood they bring to each song or the emotion they put into it stands out more.

Roger is tone deaf anyway, that's why his voice isn't too great, but in a bunch of the songs, the mood he gives off is very good.

Just the fact that he's writing about himself at that time...and that he already knows his fate, yet his course can't be changed somehow.

Yea Dark Side was more of a political album.

WYWH is a great album, my 3rd favorite. It hits the spot musically and lyrically, and in other ways.

But not original pressing, and i'm not sure if it's the CD version pressed either...

Still probably worth it. That is really cheap.

Actually not that hard. Try any used record store. I mean so many were initally produced (at least DSOTM and after) that there's a bunch still floating around.

And my actually record is in good conditon...the sleeve and all that isn't bad either.

Heh, lucky you.
Its only a cheap record player, being my first and everything.
But i hope as my collection gets bigger, ill buy a more expensive player.
My dad told me about his old friend from when he was a kid, collected records, and had a £4000 record player.
So that would be what, about $8000? to the americans who read this.
And that was like 25 years ago, who knows how much a record player like that would cost now, probably about £10,000.

EDIT: Also forgot to mention, love the Fall of Math Av.
