are u computer savvy?
make sure youre connected to an EFnet server. find the name of the channel u want....then u can either download from bots (which is better) or connect to someones fserve and navigate through their files using DOS commands.
if this seems already too much for you, then just stick with kazaa.

do you have dial-up? because mIRC didnt work with me until i got my cable modem.
I have dsl and am trying to access it on a computer that is running through a hub. That is probably my problem.

I'm not too familiar with working around networks to establish a connection on IRC. All that I do know is some routers come with a firewall already installed which may be preventing you from connecting....how to solve this problem, I'm not too sure. Just try some trial and error tasks, for example if your pc has a firewall installed try disabling that.

do you know the commands to connect and join channels and all that?
like /server (/s if you use the alias) and /join (/j if you use the alias)

or better, try ares. its as easy as kazaa (actually, its about the same, they ripped off the format i think) but no spyware and just generally causes less problems w/ your computer. only problem is that of course not as many people use it as kazaa, so theres not as much of a selection :(
Still no luck. I think I am done with mIRC.
I really need a good FTP site.
mIRC really isnt that hard...it took me a few days to figure it out...but after you figure it out, its REALLY easy, and Im really glad I got it, cuse I dont have to wait for my friends to give me advance cds anymore.

i must be the only one that uses IRC for CHATTING .. ya know .. IRC stands for internet relay chat ... i chat w/ friends from some online games and what-not ... and i've learned a little bit of mIRC scripting ... but not much
