That may be, but you digress from the point at hand. Your statement that Plans is in any way better than Transatlantacism is what makes your "opinions" bad. Plans has about an EP's handful of good songs on it, where as Transatlantacism is good all the way through, and I'd argue to say that this is the album that officially put them on the map for many music fans. Previous albums are ok, but Death Cab had a steady growth from a band with a few good songs to a band with an albums worth of good songs to a band with an amazing album. Plans is in no way better, and in no way will ever be better, than Transatlantacism.
And that is science.

First off you said my opinion of music was bad. Not your opinion of the matter at hand is bad.
Second, you said death cab had a steady growth from a band with a few good songs to a band with a good album then an amazing album. Are you implying that everything before transantlaticism was less than a incredible album? If so that is not the case. The Photo Album is argueably their best release, for me it's a toss up between that and Plans (with transantlaticism close behind.)
The point is I could respect your opinion, but how could you say that plans and the photo album are anything less than incredible the whole way through through?
Name one bad song on The Photo Album, or Plans.
IMO PLans, and Transantlaticisim are outstanding, but Plans takes it.

Name one bad song on The Photo Album, or Plans.
IMO PLans, and Transantlaticisim are outstanding, but Plans takes it.
First off, I don't care.
Second off, Death Cab was a steady growth of a band. The Photo Album is not a special outstanding album. You want some bad songs? Ok. "Why You'd Want To Live Here." "I Was A Kaleidoscope." "Blacking Out The Friction." Again, this album has about an EP's worth of good songs that are noteworthy. So yes, I am implying that everything before Transatlantacism is "less than a incredible album," as you say. You want some bad songs on Plans? Easy, and again, here's 3 times the amount you asked for. "Different Names For The Same Thing." "I Will Follow You Into The Dark." "Someday You Will Be Loved." Oh my god, did he just really bad mouth that CD?!?!!?!? Yes. Because it is not amazing. Nothing about it is amazing. It started out well with "Marching Bands Of Manhattan" but then I didn't really care until "Your Heart Is An Empty Room" came around. So it is not perfect. It is not incredible. And it never will be as good as Transatlantacism was, and for that matter, never will be.
Next - I could give a rats ass if you respect my opinion or not. The problem with kids these days is that everyone is just so ready to get on their knees and suck Ben Gibbards waiting cock. The man has some talent sure, but he is not god, and you don't need to eat everything he hands out because the man is by far from perfect. Transatlantacism was an amazing album from start to finish and I highly doubt that anything Death Cab will ever do will be as good as that was. So while you can feel free to take every shot in the mouth Ben is willing to shoot in there, I refuse to lick his balls for you while he does it.
So, for your response to this post, which I am SURE will come, please 1.) Make sure you can type Transatlantacism and 2.) Think harder before you post.

Fine that's your opinion. None of the songs you listed are bad and i can bet almost everyone in this thread would agree with me.
I am a big fan of ben gibbard, but obviously not like you described. Besides if i was gonna bend over for someone at least it wouldn't be a fat guy with a huge beard and a voice like a woman.
The problem with pretentious assholes on this site is they are all peer pressured into the same opinions. They shit their pants for Transatlantacism, and Clarity, and Tell All Your Friends, because that's what everyone says. They all jump on the band wagon and talk shit about In Reverie, and From Under The Cork Tree, because they just want to fit in soooooooo badly. Transatlantacism is great, Clarity is too, Tell All Your Friends was great when I was in high school but I haven't listened to it in forever and a day, In Reverie is boring, From Under The Cork Tree is a damn good CD, and mewithoutYou is a crap band, so I've never even bothered to check out Brother, Sister. Sorry, Susan, but your pre-determined notions of me are far from correct, because I like a million things that no one here likes or respects and I am far from a pretentious asshole. I listen to Avenged Sevenfold and My Chemical Romance with my father, I've been known to listen to both Circa Survive and Chiodos, and hell, I even own a copy of Panic! At The Disco's CD. And I enjoy it. Yet somehow I'm a popular regular on the site and people still respect me though, and you know why? Because I'm not a whiney little cry baby nubian, like you are. I don't listen to music to fit in. I listen to music that I like. I berate you and your opinions of Death Cab merely because this forum was originally created to discuss music. But if you don't want to discuss music because I can create an argument of why you're wrong and you're just "too kewl for skewl" to bother to respond, then that's your call, Ace.
And just because a bunch of kids on a thread agree with you doesn't make any argument legit or correct. And even the pretentious assholes who go along with whoever says were supposed to hate a band today will tell you that.

You could have just said that you disagreed like everyone else, because, yes my opinion is not a common one. But instead, you being so set in your ways decided to act like a bitch, that makes you a pretentious asshole.
I didn't say you listened to music to fit in, what you do is attack people like me who have uncommon opinions.
show me one whiny thing I said, that wasn't just like you whining about kids obsessing over ben gibbard.
If the majority of the people on this thread agree with me on a subjective matter, no it doesn't make it legit or correct, that's how opinions work, no one can be right. But it does statistically make me correct.

Show me one point in our dialogue in which you defended anything about the music you like. It's basically been me saying "this sucks" and you crying "no no it doesn't I swear it doesn't!" I'll tell you everything I don't like about the songs, I don't care. First one I remember I said is "I'll Follow You Into The Dark." I think it's cheesey, cliche, I hate the lyrics, I hate the sound, in general it's a dull song and vastly over rated, but everywhere I turn, "Omg omg best song ever lets quote it on myspace!" I think "Soul Meets Body" is just as annoying in sound, and the lyrics are retarded. The lyrics went downhill from the last record on the vast majority of songs. As for Photo Album, on the majority of songs, I don't think Death Cab had fully found their sound and that Ben Gibbard had actually learned how to sing yet, so many of the songs are just not tolerable to the ear.
And yes, I could have said I just disagreed, but what would be the point in that? I'd rather push your buttons so that tommorow at school you can tell all your friends about that asshole on the internet who dared to say that Death Cab is not actually a band of God like status.
Oh, and can you point out to me where I haven't been "talking about Death Cab," please?

Plans is just as solid the whole way through as transantlaticism. I just prefer the progression on Plans to transantlaticism. transantlaticism seems to be the same from New Year to A Lack of Color, nothing progressive or interesting happened. It's a album of really good songs that could easily have been written in the same day.

And I think Plans isn't solid at all. I skip tracks on it all the time. Some songs I haven't actually bothered to listen to once at all (such as "Some Day You Will Be Loved") because the start of the song is just so horrible. I listened to Plans today again and the only song I actually listened to is "Your Heart Is An Empty Room," which is the best song on that CD. The difference between Plans and Transatlantacism is that Transatlantacism flows from one track straight into the other and there is no need to skip a track because they are all good from start to finish. The great thing is that once the CD ends it flows back into itself all over again so listening to it non stop isn't annoying at all, where as Plans, the fact that I have to keep hitting the "next" button on my mp3 player/car CD player is just a nuisance that I don't even bother listening to the CD at all.

I listen to plans through, basically whenever i listen to it. And often repeatedly.
Frankly, the song transantlaticism breaks the album apart for me and i end up switching to something else, i just get too damn bored. From that to We Looked Like Giants i usually get bored and skip to A Lack of Color or just listen to something else.
I think Plans finishes really strong.

So, I like Plans. And I also like Transalanticism. And whoever is congratulating themself for their ability to "construct arguments", please cease and desist the impassioned self-love before you make a mess on your keyboard. I haven't seen any posts that go beyond asserting that an album is good or bad for no reason, except when someone tries to support such assertions by offering equally unwarranted assertions as to why individual songs on an album are good or bad. Potentially, this problem stems from the fact that there is absolutely no way to rationally argue as to what makes a song good. But I guess a prick sleeps easier if he can slag a kid for posting his opinion on the internet. Maybe he feels like a man now.

yeah, my friend had me listen to them the other day. I've been thinking about picking up a CD.
It's worth it.
I think Transatlantacism the song is perfect where it is straight in the middle. It works out incredibly for me. And maybe the love of this CD stems from the point it came out and the influence on my life and memories I share with it. It's extremely possible. But at the same time, a CD like Tell All Your Friends holds just as much if not more, and I don't even look at it. So I'd like to tell you that it actually has to do with how fucking fantastic it is, because the memories I share with the CD I hate and wish I didn't have, yet I keep coming back to this CD time and time again to listen to and sing along with. Hands down it is the best Death Cab CD and always will be. To me, anyways.
The last track of Plans is good, but the lack of anything really good in the middle kills the CD. I don't just want a good ending.
So, I like Plans. And I also like Transalanticism. What a waste of a post

I can just get argumentative
For the record, even though I think you're wrong, I admire the fact you repeatedly defend yourself. You'll do well on the site when your post count is higher because that's all that matters.

Transatlanticism is definitely better. Plans was worse than I expected. Don't get me wrong, I adore DCfC, but Plans didn't touch my heart as much as Trans. I could listen to Trans. all the way through, but Plans, I only listen to three songs.
