He's worthy of his own thread
• Astros' career leader in home runs (449), RBI (1,529) and runs (1,517).
• 1994 NL MVP when he hit .368 with 39 home runs and 116 RBI in just 110 games of the strike-shortened season.
• 1991 NL Rookie of the Year when he hit .294 with 15 home runs and 82 RBI in 156 games.
• 1994 NL Gold Glove winner.
• .297 career batting average in 15 big-league seasons.

He's also an asshole for trying to come back with one shoulder and using up all that $$$

I think it's him and Frank Thomas that were born on the same day of the same year and that their careers are INSANELY close numbers-wise. Although, Thomas' big year last year distanced it a bit, but it was creepily close for a while.

He deferred a lot of money early in the deal. The Astros knew what they were doing, knew the risks, they signed him to that deal. Bagwell did nothing wrong.

Trivia
Bagwell was born on the same day and year, May 27 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_27), 1968 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1968), as Toronto Blue Jays (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_Blue_Jays) DH (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_hitter) Frank Thomas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Thomas). The two have also had remarkably similar careers. [3] (http://www.baseball-reference.com/t/thomafr04.shtml) [4] (http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/bagweje01.shtml)Each was named MVP of their respective league, on consecutive days, in 1994. The pair faced each other in the World Series in 2005, though Thomas was injured and inactive, while Bagwell's injuries kept his playing time to a minimum.

haha...I remember MLB like 93 or 94 for Sega Genesis, and batting with him the guy was slumped over to the point where the graphics made him look legless...good stuff

Another one of the childhood stars calling it quits. I just wished he would have won the Series.

yea. they wanted baggy to come back, but he just wasnt able to. they let him play every day even though he couldnt throw more th an 10 feet away.
hes one of my all time favirote astros, and was always the guy that was cool with the fans. (he was the only player that would sign for fans after the game EVERY NIGHT) i have so many of his autographs on so much stuff, i even have one of his baseball cards that i dorpped and he ran over it with his hummer. hahah.
but im glad he finally announced it, the astros will retire his number this year and i hope i can make it to t hat game. hes going to be a consultant for the astros i think so he will still be in the organization.

This trade is nothing though, compared to Victor Zambrano for Scott Kazmir.
