Yea I know and remeber they were huge, I was around during that time, but I was more of a Blink-182 fan. anyways, just because they were huge, though, they still were the Green Day that I remember growing uo with, they have a more rockish sound at the time, they were still wearin t-shirts nad no make-up or black gothic clothing, they were simply just being themsleves, and that is all I want from Green Day, no matter how huge they were at the time, they were still bein tha same Green Day that I really know. However, on American Idiot, they were also just as huge as they were on Nimrod and Warning, but they weren't being themselves, that is why I hated them on that album, they were wearing make-up and shitlike that, and they were really being american idiots by copying every other band....so there ya go dipshits.......

how were they not being themselves? is it because they kind of matured in sound? is it because they wrote a record that was different than anything they'd done before? just because a band tries a new sort of style doesn't mean they're not being themselves. they grew up a lot between "warning" and "american idiot." and how the fuck were they copying every other band? how many bands in this scene or green day's genre are putting out 9 minute tracks with 4 different movements? shut up. green day is just as good as they were in the early 90s when they put out "kerplunk," "dookie," etc.

yea, u keep on dreaming that they were the same green day as they were in the 90's you dipshit....u and everyone else wishes that they were the same as theey were up to Warning, and btw they were more better on Warning than they were on American Idiot...and they are not getting more mature, they are getting more gay and appealing to more youngewr fans like 8 year olds, whereas in the 90's they appealed more to grown ups.

so i guess writing songs about important sociopolitical issues isn't more mature than writing songs about jacking off? i must've missed that memo.
musically, "american idiot" blows "warning" out of the water. if you can't hear that, then you're a fucking moron. and how is it their fault that they get younger kids into the crowd? it's not Green Day's fault that these kids don't understand what the songs are about and how they're meant for a more mature audience.
and i'm actually pretty glad they're different than they were on "warning." it was a different record from the previous few which was good but it still wasn't much of a variation from their old sound. "american idiot" was a big step forward for them musically. "dookie" and "kerplunk" are still my favorite albums by them but to say "american idiot" is worse than "warning" is just plain stupid.

Warning wasn't that long ago, it wasn't in the 90's.
And I'll ask you again, why is Green Day's music ''gay''?
post in the official thread.
I agree.

Just a few things you need to know.
They're being themselves now.
You do know that Warning is NOTHING like Dookie, Insomniac and nimrod, don't you? It was Green Day being themselves, doing what they wanted, how they wanted it, just like they always have done, and always will do, just like it is with American Idiot, they wanted to do it, so they did it. Also, Warning has sold less copies than any other Green Day album. I wouldn't quite say they were ''HUGE'' with that album.
What bands did Green Day ''copy'' with their American Idiot album?

They appealed to more grown ups? Really? And now they're a band that you and your 8 years old buddies listen to?
American Idiot album is more mature than anything they've ever done. Fact.
American Idiot is the kind of album you 8 years olds wouldn't understand.
There's an official thread for a reason. And that reason is you.
