I'm excited for this.
I don't like how there are so many songs from the old cd though.

I already paid for 1/3rd of that CD.
9 new tracks isn't bad, so I won't complain that much. And I'd appreciate a re-recording of Histrionics.

Why would they rerecord so many songs?

Pretty good CD, absolutely the closest thing we have in this "scene" to a boy band though. If it wasn't coming out on Epitaph, you'd think it was a Jive release.
Not bad harmonics and melodies - great production (Mike Green rules) - but the lyrics and backbeats are childish. Over all - first impression: 6.6/10.

as much as I hate this, I know the new version of histrionics is going to be so overproduced that itll ruin the old.
the PS remix is very bad.
9 new songs...we'll see.
I think they should do a cover album.

So in that case, it will be a 10/10 for me?

Why's everyone saying the new histrionics will be overproduced/bad? The re-recording of In The Set fucking slays. But yeah, the remix is fucking terrible and It's going to be the second time I pay for it, adding insult to injury.

What the hell to only 9 new songs.
Oh well, I hope I like this. The album Histrionics is one of my favorites.

its usually the case.
I mainly said it because there is so much they could do to that song but I know most people, including me, would like it the other way.

The reason for all the rerecordings is because Histrionics sold 10 copies or something like that and everyone else downloaded it. So they wanted to put some of the old songs on, On Fire so that people could hear them since they're on a label that's actaully going to push them now. Good call with the boy band thing Jason but I think it's more of a JT vibe and they are way better than any boy band ever was or will be. This album has potential to be everyone's album of the year. It's catchy, it's fun, it makes you wanna dance and it'll get your girl wet so just prepare. And it's going to blow Fall Out Boy out of the water because the Higher's been R&B way before FOB ever fathomed going that direction but of course they wont get nearly enough props as they deserve since infinity on high comes out before on fire. But everyone should get ready to see the higher get atleast some of the attention they deserve. Predictions- The higher will own 2007 and really put Vegas on the map. With the Epitaph tour 07 getting them attention, then when Motion city soundtracks new album drops they go on tour with them, that'll shoot them"higher" then on to tour with Panic, then they hit the road with FOB and then it's MTV so take it for what it is. And these guys deserve it all for all of their hard work over the past few years and being some of the coolest dudes to kick it with constantly. The 9 new tracks are more than enough and it's easy to look past the cliche' lyrics because the jams just make you wanna groove. It's just one of those feel good records of the year, a little less serious and alot more fun. And the rerecordings are amazing, personally I didnt like them at first but just give it time. If you liked histrionics you're going to be absolutely enfatuated with On Fire.
P.S. there's a hidden track at 4:20 past the last song hahaha leave it to THE "HIGHER" to do that.

R & B dance songs are inherently childish. It's perfectly acceptable.

the lyrics on the new cd are at times somewhat... odd, but i wouldnt call them childish, i would more so call them unorthodox. and you say mike green rules but most of the backbeats made on the semi-R&B tracks were made my mike green.
seth's voice is fucking amazing. you got to give him that.
the thing i like most about this cd is that the "scene emo" kids are trying something different unlike the million other bands who sound alike. no other bands sound like this new cd. and thats saying something.

give this album a chance, if you're into having fun

because no one heard the last record but like 5000 people....

i heard the last cd and i loved it. and i'm excited for this. it is somewhat upsetting i'll know some of the songs already, but i'm sure the reworking of them will just improve some of the vocal and what not. the ep has really grown on me, and i dont care what anyone says...pace yourself (any version of the song) is fucking awesome

I agree with you on this 100 percent. i was just at a Higher show in Vegas and they did a cover of a new justin timberlake song. it was pretty funny. fyi..

Or I just never liked their music. Why would I "have it in" for a band because of something some idiot says on a message board?
That's fucking stupid.

I wouldnt worry so much about it. Pat doesn't write bad songs. The guitar hooks and what not will still be there, even if it is so over produced that it sounds boy bandish.

I've also had a chance to check out the full record and I totally agree. there's a huge boyband vibe to it. I don't know if kids will totally fall for it and may pass it off as another click five, I guess it depends on what they choose as their singles, there are some really catchy tracks on this disc though.

Hmmm, I think they rerecorded a lot of the stuff since a lot of people didn`t get to hear it the first time around and will now for sure since Epitaph is "a little bit" different distributionwise compared to Fiddler and co. ... but I also never got into them, but when it comes to Fiddler I still think it`s a shame Salem broke up before releasing a full-length ...

for anyone who doesn't like this or can't admit to liking this, i feel bad for you. let down your 'scene' guard a little bit and just enjoy the music. we can all admit to loving justin timberlake but not this..come on now?!
I don't mind them.
I'll give the new CD a listen when it comes out.

I'm a little disappointed that they re-did some older songs. I'm not really a fan of the Pace Yourself remix either. But the two new songs sound good.
