The Crab With Claws Awry


I am canvas skin
and jagged bones.
I am art in progress.
I draw lines, but instead of
Straight,
They turn out
Crooked and inexplainable.
Accidental strokes from
An imagination that didn't picture it that way.
I begin with two,
Parallel and on my
Face. Despite ruler and
Careful hand,
My asymmetry gets the
Better. Scribbled out,
My face is but a mask.
I tear the whole
Thing up and start over,
Again.
