im not sure how to even ask this question.
im trying to figure out just how small the chances are of my steelers getting a wild card spot.
if two teams have identical records, how do they determine who gets in?
1. record against each other
if that doesnt apply, then...
2. ?
if that doesnt resolve it, then...
3. ?

Eh, depends...
For two teams, it goes head to head, conference, common games, strength of victory, strength of schedule and then a bunch of others that no one really remembers. For 3+ teams, any team that has a worse division record than a team in their division that they are tied with is eliminated first. Then it's head to head sleep, followed by the same rules as the two team system. Good times.

the steelers pretty much need anybody with 8 wins to lose out. most teams in the hunt either hold the head to head tiebreaker or have a better conference record.
