i thought about buying him some at the drive-in because he claims to like them, but went with a dvd instead.

Why haven't you lended him some of your vast knowledge on DIY, punk, and hardcore/screamo? He needs it far more than some of the herbs on the internet forums.

I tried letting him rip any of the cds I have but he only goes for the super poppy stuff. He smokes pot though, maybe i'll try to get him into TMV and hope that it becomes a gateway to better music.

well i don't live at my parent's house but maybe a month or so out of the year, so it's not really a big deal. he can listen to whatever, i don't have to hear it.

no. i got into fugazi which got me into emo when i was like 15 and living with my parents. I just didn't have a good cd collection until i moved out because my hometown has no record stores.

I hear you. Every time I want to buy something that isn't available in major stores (best buy, etc.) it's a 2 town drive or the internet.

that's exactly how it used to be for me. only i didn't have a car since i didn't start driving until right before i left for college.
