psp help

i just got a psp and i did what the manual said to do
i charged it all the way
and turned it on.
but when i turn it on the green light comes on and fades off after a couple seconds
and nothing comes on the screen.
whats the fucking deal? is my battery broken ? is my whole psp fucked? or is this a easily fixable problem?
