This is big news if it is released. My biggest question (and we have beaten it to submission), what happens to Bonds?
should he go on trial for perjury?
what should happen to other players who are on the list?
Mods feel free to do whatever with this thread.

Bonds should definitely go on trial. I wish none of these guys would make it to the hall of fame but its obvious they all will. They make me look bad for rooting for them when I was a teenager. Ugh.

ya I think most people will agree that Bonds should be placed on trial if he name is released. I fear some of the names on the list will damage baseball, but at the same time I think they'll keep some names off to save baseball. If certain star players end up on the list it hurts MLB big time. They've been trying to stay away from this scandal and focus on the positives, but I dont think it can recover without harsh punishment if this list has big names on it.
and that starts with Bonds....and then comes racism.

bonds should be put on trial and they shouldnt withhold any names. the only way to save baseball is to clean it up, or at least legitimately attempt to do so.
i'll always love the game, not the players. if the biggest stars go down and the popularity of baseball nosedives, nothing will change from my point of view.

The names and urine samples of about 100 Major League Baseball players who tested positive three years ago can be used by federal investigators
Quest Diagnostics of Teterboro, N.J., one of the largest drug-testing firms in the nation, analyzed more than 1,400 urine samples from players in the 2003 season.
Now, my math isn't great, but, 100/1400 is 8% of all tests...and that assumes that some of those 1400 tests weren't of the same player multiple times...so, imagine if every baseball team had about 10% of their lineup in that category. In the AL, that means between the field players, pitcher, and DH, one of them is a steroids user. And, in the NL, it means that maybe one team might have a clean starting line up.
And that is just steroids they knew about, and that they tested for...doesn't account for masking agents and other drugs that enhance performance...
How baseball could not see that, which is probably a small scale of the acual problem, as a pervasive problem and risk on their game is beyond me

are you sure some of them werent multiple tests of the same person? that wouldnt make sense to me

Well, if they were multiple tests of the same person, then the number of people tested goes down, the percentage of steroid users goes up...which is how I assume it actually is (since I don't believe there are 1400 people at the Major League level).
But, assuming they were, even 10% is shown to be pretty ridiculous in terms of actual effect (at least 1 starter per team), and how baseball didn't "see the problem" blows me away. By the numbers, every team would have at least 2 players, which a coach can't just "miss".
And this makes me hate baseball as an entity to the point that I will never support their product in any form, because I hate government control and intervention like this, normally, yet I find myself applauding them for their actions here...

here's the thing about bonds: chances are he won't be put on trial for perjury.
even if his tests come back positive, what's that prove? it proves the steroids were in his system. they know that much, he admitted to it.
under oath, he admitted to unknowingly taking steroids. if a test comes back positive, there's no new evidence against him. the word 'unknowingly' will make it damn near impossible to bring perjury charges against him. unless they can come across an audio tape that's clearly him saying 'i know they're steroids, but give me some more,' there's really nothing they can do about it. and if that tape existed, it'd have been out by now.
had he denied ever using, and the test came back positive, then yes, he goes on trial for perjury. but as it is now, i don't see it happening.

somehow went from being worse then his brother Aaron, to winning a gold glove, I believe. I could be wrong on that. either way i will just remember him for crying in his locker after being released or whatever. And that frosted fucking hair. what a douche.

Yeah, and Sexon's power numbers have been pretty consistent from when he became a full time starter.
sorry Tejada but peace.
Probably Sheffield, too. Damn. We could use that roider's bat.

yep. i think it was 03 when all the steroid talk started, and Sexon was in the homerun derby. all the commentators were like "well the one guy that we can be almost sure isn't on steroids is Richie Sexon"
it was also the year the advertising campaign had cartoons of all the participants with enlarged muscles, which was pretty ironic.

from the Detroit Tigers blog I read:
The Feds are going to find out who tested positive for steroids in 2003. We can only hope that the Tigers magical 2003 season isn’t tainted by steroid use thus rendering their 43 wins meaningless.
hahaha.

haha vitamin b12?? I believe that is a legal substance dude... And all of you are just going to accept accusations from Palmeiro as true?? Need I remind you...
"Let me start by telling you this: I have never used steroids, period."
wesgemm08
12/28/06, 08:16 AM
"ESPN later reported that Palmeiro implicated Miguel Tejada to baseball's arbitration panel, suggesting a supplement provided to him by Tejada was responsible for his positive test. This supplement was simply vitamin B12."
I think you are being naive by accepting statements by Palmeiro as fact. OMG the piece of beef I ate last night had vitamin b12 in it, I guess I use steroids also.
