I tried posting this thread yesterday, but got an error message, and I wasn't able to post it again until now. I checked the first few pages of this forum to make sure it didn't actually go through the first time, and couldn't find it. So if this thread is already floating around somewhere, sorry about that.
I just got the Vagrant Records Summer '03 sampler, and it has a song from the upcoming Dashboard Confessional CD (A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar).
It's called If You Can't Leave it Be, Might as Well Make it Bleed. Guys, if you haven't heard it yet, you HAVE to. The lyrics are brilliant. It's awesome. I can't stop listening to it.
Dashboard has evolved a LOT, all for the better. It's obvious that they're leaning away from "One-Man-Show-Plus-Backup" more towards "Full-Band". You can still hear Carrabba on his acoustic guitar, but I can also hear at least one electric guitar, plus bass and drums. And it's not just backup, it's really in-your-face. They are no longer simply sad acoustic pop, now they are good old-fashioned full-blown electric emo.
Dashboard has suddenly got WAAAY cooler. I'd been starting to slip away from Dashboard over the past six months or so, but this song got me pumped up again and right back in. I'm definitely gonna be picking this CD up when it comes out on August 12 (same day as The Starting Line's Make Yourself At Home EP, yeah!). And it's even got me thinking about going ahead and purchasing The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most, which, I admit, I've had as a burned copy for almost a year. This new song got me thinking about all the hard times that CD had gotten me through, and I started feeling guilty about "stealing". I felt like I owed them my money ;)
But enough of me trying to pitch the CD to you guys. Go get this sampler, hear the song, and judge it for yourself. You'll love it!
UPDATE: And today I finally heard the song "Hands Down" that's being discussed in another thread somewhere. Way cool!!

As you can see there's that one line that I'm not sure of, it's in there four times.
But that's nothing, you guys need to HEAR it. It starts off smaller, but then towards the end it has this huge buildup until Carrabba is practically screaming his little head off.

Not a bad thing... just a YOU thing. But don't decide whether or not you like them based on their past releases. If you hear this one, it will blow your socks off! It sounds much more alive and colorful.
Guys, don't let any previous Dashboard music taint your expectations of this new CD. You-will-be-SURPRISED.
P.S.: And is anyone besides me having a hell of a problem with a message that says "Server is too busy. Please try again later."??

I updated the lyrics. I was listening to the song a minute ago, and I realized that instead of "When both your eyes are closed," it says "With both your eyes sewn closed." I think that's awesome, it fits in with the whole creepy "autopsy" analogy. Every time I listen to this song, I like it a little better!
As for posting the song... I don't really know how. If you guys have KaZaA, you could check to see if I'm on tomorrow and try and download it from me. (I won't be on anymore tonight) Just search the name of the song and see if I pop up (worldstheory@KaZaA).

I listened to this on my friend's sample one time i love dashboard at time's i'm drawn back to them and for about a month they're all i listen to it's like a yo yo. But i didn't realli like this soing, well mostly the beginning of it. I'm sure i'll have to listen again but the new "hands Down" is so incredible!

I explained above that I don't have any way of sending it unless you can go on Kazaa and hope that you catch me on at the same time. Just search the name of the song and see if worldstheory@KaZaA pops up. I'm actually connected right now, and probably will be for an hour or two.

I got the sampler in the mail today and boy does that DC song fuckin suck. No wonder they're releasing an old song ("Hands Down") as the first single...they got nothing else better on the album I bet.
The rest of the sampler wasnt a total waste though...No Motiv has a pretty cool song on it. And Im really liking the New Amsterdams.
