college roommates

I'll be going to GWU (in washington dc) starting in the fall of 07 to start med school, and I need to find a place to live and roommates. I can pretty much move there anytime between now and then, since I really don't have much going on here in jersey anymore since I graduated. What are the best ways to find a good roommate/apartment (or house)? I met my current roommates and were friends with them for a while before we all moved in together, so this is a sorta new type of situation for me, moving in with people I don't know. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated =]

well does the college have any halls of residences? over here in the U.K all universities/colleges do, im in them at my uni and i just got put in with random people (2 out of the 6 of us have now moved) and we are all great friends already, and my best friend has now moved in aswell, their also alot cheaper than private accomodation, so if its a possibility have a tihnk about it

When my cousin went back to school, she was looking for an apartment near campus, and ended up finding a couple big houses that were rented out to college kids. Like, she had her own bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom in the bottom floor of a huge house. She met a girl from the school that was looking into the same apt, and they moved in together.
