Demeco Ryans 156 tackles. AJ Hawk 121.
All other stats are the same except Hawk had one more int.
It is close, but I think Ryans gets it.

i agree in that ryans will more than likely get it. my vote would go to hawk though. being the anchor of the 12th ranked defense is pretty damn impressive for a rookie.
not to take away from ryans' fantastic season, i feel voting for him would be punishing hawk for having better teammates around him.
that's just me though.

Coach of the Year: Eric Mangini. Jets aren't as talented as the saints are and he took them to the playoffs. Payton has been nothing but amazing and I will root for the Saints to win the superbowl, but Mangini, IMO, has done more with less than Payton has.
Also, I picked Jones-Drew for the OROTY but I would prefer that Marcus McNeill get's it. Dude has been one of, if not the best, LT in football this year for the chargers.

I agree with these statements 110%. It's sad that Payton will win it because of the sympathy angle.

well, one could also argue that Payton took a franchise with nothing but losing tradition and turned them into division champions in his first season and that changing an entire culture of losing while getting 26 (i think?) new players to mesh and buy into his philosophies so soon is tougher than what Mangini did.
I don't think Payton wins it on sympathy, he's definitely proven he deserves it and I won't mind if he gets it, but I think Mangini is more deserving.

I think most people knew he would win it, and apparently the voters looked at more than numbers. witch as i said would be the only way he would not win it.
Congrats to Demeco Ryans on Defensive rookie of the year as well.

the worst part about this is that titan homers are going to use this as part of their defense in future discussions, as if he deserved it.
i'd equate the meaningfulness of this to being selected for the MLB All Star Game, if you know what i'm saying.

Yeah for real. But I think NFL Awards go out the window when they reward a cheater with a spot on their all star roster.

i think the media is the exact reason why he won. the media hyped the hell out of him in texas, they hyped the hell out of him when he came out.
and they hyped the hell out of every big play he made. i would have liked to see someone that put up some better numbers, like jones-drew, or bush, or colston

Because the Saints won their division. The chargers have tons of talent compared to the saints.

The Chargers were 14-2 and for the most part with the same talent they got 5 more wins with a rookie qb in the AFC, let alone the AFC west.
The Saints played in a weak NFC with a bunch of underachievers in their division and fairly bad defenses. They passed a hell of a lot in an artificial stadium. They had plenty of talent on offense. 2 Good running backs. A good WR, a decent line, and a surprising rookie in Colston. Tomlinson had more rushing tds than Brees had passing. He had the most TDs in football and that rarely happens...ever

reggie bush, deuce mccallister, joe horn, marques colston, devery henderson, scott fujita, charles grant, will smith
yea, the saints have NO talent at all....
not to mention the saints division was shit compared to the AFC west.

lt was hands down the mvp, but the fucking voting is flawed.
a case could be made very easily for brees, so i can understand giving him first place votes. i really thought he'd end up with more than 4 though.
but what really gets me, is that peyton manning got two first place votes. seriously? not to take anything away from manning, but compared to the season brees and lt had, how does he even get a single vote higher than third? absolutely ridiculous.

it is the Most Valuable Player award...im a chargers fan and i was all about LT. But if you think about the Colts they're awful without Peyton Manning. Yeah he had a down year but he is still very valuable to his team.

i'm not saying he isn't, but you can't make a stronger case for him than you can brees or lt.

i'm not debating anything, i'm saying it's bullshit that manning got any first place votes at all.
just proves that they really need to reevaluate who they're giving votes to.
