Hawthorne Heights (http://www.absolutepunk.net/hawthorneheights) have over 15 songs written (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=747127&blogID=211370546&MyToken=607eea6f-af26-4212-a864-287bb9c20954) for when they plan to record their follow up to If Only You Were Lonely in 2007.

It's weird. The first album didn't have anything that stood out on first listen, but hung around for a while and was a good cd. The second had some ones that stood out but the album died quickly..

Let's see how this one is..

I dont like this band much but i've seen them at warped and on a headlining tour that a band i wanted to see was opening... and they are a solid sounding live band.

They use Soldano Amplification :)

just to prove a point i threw on IOYWL when my friend that constantly talks shit about HH, but had never heard this album, was in the car. needless to say she liked it and kinda wanted to punch me in the face when i told her who it was.

point being, stop hating a band because it's trendy and make your own decisions..your scene points won't mean a thing to yourself, or anyone else, in another year.

yeah seeing as how AFI formed in 1991 and released their 1st album in 1995...i think they have more experience under their belts than Hawthorne heights who formed in 2001...i would say writing 15 songs for the 3rd album isnt that bad of a feat.

hey guys.
we have written 15 songs over the last 2 months. afi, one of my favorite bands, wrote 100 songs over the last 3 years. and i love their new album. i wish we could have that long, but we have never had the luxury. thanks for sticking up for us, sometimes. remember that it is ok to love or hate whichever band you want. it shouldnt hurt the band's feelings. everyone has their own taste. i hope you guys like the new songs. we are trying to write 5 or 10 more. we are excited about what we have written so far.

awful sell out band.

Care to explain?

And I don't see how anyone can attempt to make a joke about them writing 15 songs. It's been less than a year since the last album. I'm suprised at how quickly this band puts out material.

Yeah, I definitely wasn't a fan of the first album, though I thought Silver Bullet acoustic was so great. I liked the Second Album. And I'm excited to hear this third album. I want to hear "Cat With A Lime On It's Head"...that's such an odd song title, that I'm intrigued by it.

sell out in a way that theyre also helping shitty bands get airtime on tv and the radio which i think is slowly changing our rock scene. It's my little theory with bands like fall out boys, panic, etc... I just dont really care for these guys that all im tryin to say

Just because you don't like a band doesn't mean they sold out. If HH ever did a Pepsi commercial, then it may be a different story.

jtwoodruff
01/01/07, 09:50 PM
i think it's awesome that fall out boy has paved the way for bands on the radio. just like panic at the disco will do. this could help other poppy rock acts such as cartel, early november, say anything etc. would you rather the radio continue to milk bands like nickelback, hinder, staind, etc?

ManicanParty49
01/01/07, 09:55 PM
I think it's funny how so many people came in here after reading the HH news, because they don't like the band, and want to tell people they don't like the band. If they're so bad, don't waste your time. I know, that what I just said, is said in every case where it happens, but it's so true. Just stop wasting time on a band you don't like. It's not worth it.

con40dmitri

^yea you do have a good point on nickelback... but still that poppy scene is almost just as bad.

01/01/07, 10:03 PM
is that a blink 182 logo by your name? you don't like pop music? blink is one of my favorite bands. i feel that they paved the way for new found glory on the radio...big bands help out smaller bands in the scene. it's a very good scene. trust me, it's better than a band like nickelback selling 10 million records out of nowhere. all of these bands in our scene have busted their ass in vfw halls to get where they are. it's amazing that the radio is even playing bands like fob, patd, hh, afi, my chem, tbs....

Nolessthanblink

Yeah, theyre totally a sellout cause their singer is posting on ap.net and kinda hanging out with their fans (and some dickhead enemies)... you're right, Bono and Billie Joe do this shit all the time and stuff huh?

Bu JT... where's the acoustic rendition of "This Is Who We Are"? That's my fave song of your guys last album and I was excited to hear how you guys could make it acoustic.

I don't know if it's amazing that fob, or patd, or tbs are being played on the radio. It's all pretty mainstream stuff. But I think it's something to be said that all these big bands are helping out smaller bands, and it's getting both bands further. That definitely proves how strong the scene is.

sorry it has taken so long, but i got sidetracked working on lyrics for the new songs. the acoustic version of this is who we are is near completion. the music is all completely done, now i just have to do the vocals. micah added some really sweet piano and organ parts to it. the song sounds completely different, and i really hope you enjoy it.

hey falloutfan29
thanks alot. we are always reading ap.net. it doesn't matter if some people don't like us on here, because opinions are healthy. you can't love every band. you can't hate every band. green day was my gateway band to the punk rock scene in 1994. and i love them to this day. they are so good and so classy. every band should strive to be that way. we aren't anywhere near them, and probably never will be. but we have fun, and enjoy playing together. that's all that matters to us.
thanks again for the support.
it really does mean alot to us.

practice at 10 am. maybe we will write another song tomorrow to bring the total up to 16. that's 84 away from 100!

It takes balls for a singer of a band to come out on this site and talk with people. Especially for a band that gets so much hate.

I've stated before that I thought The Silence in Black and White was a pretty terrible album, with the exception of 'Silver Bullet' (which I thought should have always been a single. That was the song that made me buy the album in the first place).

If Only You Were Lonley improved by tremendous amounts, spacing out the screaming section that were too common and plain on the album and putting them in places where they fit. (And the screaming improved on that album as well, by the way.) I also throught they improved on using three guitars (whereas on the first album it only sounded like two were really needed) by using harmonies. It wasn't an amazing album by any means, but it was a large step in the right direction and also a record that I pull out every once and awhile and give a listen to.

Hopefully the band improve yet again, because I'm pretty sure that with every album they'll get closer to being better band than they were.

I've never really had a problem with hh except for the screaming, in my opinion it doesn't sound natural. quit acting like they're on tours with Ashlee Simpson (I'm looking at you October Fall...). I don't like a thing they've put out but they're far from sell outs. And their battle with Tony Brummel makes me respect them whether I like their music or not.

My biggest problem with hh?

1. The lyrics. Oh god the lyrics... horrible "seeing you cry makes me feel like saying sorry" that's punk rock jt? No no no no and the lyrics feel like a copy of everything else and not even personal yanno?
2. The performance. Seeing jt's lifeless face in the music videos just turns me off. All of the video performances seem like they got a director on the side telling them what to do and a scene kid saying what looks "cool"

They aren't bad musicians really.

I think if they wanted to
They could put out a good record.

Hey i just want to say I love HH , I accidently downloaded their album one day, and the day after they became my favorite band and my "gateway" into the rock scene.. needless to say i bought the rerelease and new album (JT dont come after me with the riaa) . I've seen you guys play a total of 4 times in vegas, That never sleep again tour ( broke my glasses during life on standby that concert was CRAZY), Red white and boom, that FOB tour, and nintendo fusion. You guys may be hated on AP , but everyones just trolls here for scene credit , anyways I still have the shirt you guys signed (of course u signed the armpit btw) back from the first concert back in early 05.. Anyways stay up, I'll always love you guys

pss. Ive watched the niki fm video 200 times just for the coffee scene that makes me laugh everytime haha

I also like it how everyones a fucking dick about HH and hates them so much and then JT comes on and starts talking and you guys wanna suck up and say HH is your fav band. You guy's are so fake, like who you want to like . no one wants to hear you talk shit, someone was talking shit at a vegas concert and jt said "hows your band doing" . needless to say not as well as hh
