OK guys, now seriously, i kno we all like indie bands, but here is 2 questions, what type of punk music is gonna be the next big thing, we saw an outbreak of some pop punk that kinda died out (thank god cuz it was gettin a lil out of hand) but whats next? Emo, Hardcore, Screamo or Emocore whatever??? And what bands are going to make that happen?

Personally i think its Screamo/Emocore, and bands like Finch, The Used, Senses Fail,Taking Back Sunday, and Thursday. But tell me what you think. And dont limit yourself to just what you like

Th screaming is huge in the punk community yes but im talking about these bands breaking into the mainstream, kinda like grunge was in the early 90s when it hit the mainstream.

that's already happened. what did you think the reason for all the 12 year old kids running around in finch tshirts babbling taking back lyrics like they understand them was? exactly. and the used? they have a ringtone for cell phones for christ's sake. i don't follow up on thursday. and senses fail hasn't been too damaged by trends yet that i know of, thank god. but you're too late. pick something else.

See you people are missing the point it hasnt already happened yet, Finch had one big song, The Used had one big song, and Thursday has had zero even though they are awesome, TBS hasnt had a big song, as far as im concerned this is the problem, you people think their already big when their not, you think everybody has heard them when its really only the punk comunity, yeah its already happened in the punk community but what about the mainstream, thats what im talking about.

Just because a band is in the mainstream doesnt mean they have to label themselves as pop, thats pure ignorance, the word mainstream does not mean pop, when blink 182 and green day were getting played on MTV were they touring with brittany and justin no, were they getting shit for being sellouts, yes by ignorant people, but they were still embraced by the true punk comunity the only real punk comunity that was left.

LoL, just trying to make a point, that being in major labels doesnt necesarily mean your in the mainsteream, i mean look at hatebreed theyre on Universal and all they did was sell more records to a bunch of fat guys who ended up liking hardcore. So if the used or thursday is in the mainstream (which both are on major labels) all their gonna do is sell more records to skinny little depressed kids who break up with their girl friends and are struggling with drug abuse LoL.

just because a person posts a thread doesn't mean i have to like them, that's pure ignorance, the word post does not mean friends. when emokid0079 started posting this thread did i like him? no. did anyone? no. i rest my case.

thankkk you!! i had like a two hour argument on this the other day. my "friend" was like "pop has become a genre. blah blah blah. if youre popular your pop" and then i was like so -and-sos popular are they pop and he was like no and it was so fucking annoying. right anyways, i kinda think emo is the next big thing. i dont think the masses could handle hardcore screamo, but perhaps tbs and thursday, and definately more emo. because its not unlike bands that are already popular , and since it hasnt really been explored and thrown out yet in the pop community it definately has a large chance of becoming popular. it would have wide appeal and the masses dont yet have anything against it. if ya know what i mean. so yea, emo.

im not sure what your talking about because the used had 4 "big" songs , thursday had 1 "big" song and one minor hit , Finch had one big one and another minor hit, and TBS is allover the radio here, i probably hear them 2 maybe 3 times a night while im at work.............

When someone talks about something breaking, they don't mean getting a few spins a week on the local radio station. The NY Times had an article called "The Summer of Screamo." WIth Thursday about to make their major label debut, I don't think it's a bad bet for this to really break. Finch and the Used have only had rock radio hits. TBS got lots of exposure, but by no means well known at large.
