i want to know what venues/cities people think have the best shows, and i want to know some of the best shows you have been too.

Well. I'm from Cleveland.
I like the Grog Shop and Peabody's.
Peabody's does some shitty business with their bands, though.
But I saw my first local show there, and the venue's pretty cool.
If a big band comes though, I love Blossom.
Good times on the lawn and in the pavillion there.

I don't really go to shows  but the best one I've been to was Converge at Peabody's or Mikoto at the Grog Shop.

Ahhh dude, go to more!
Especially at those two.
You go for one band and come out knowing a couple more, haha.

I only go to bands that I absolutely love, I had to pay a shitload for Converge because Peabody's jacks up the prices, and I just think it's a waste to pay that much, don't get me wrong I still go to local shows, but just not more well known bands.

Mmm yeh. For the local local shows I go to the Pit sometimes. Have you ever been there? I dunno what you're talking about for high prices though. The most I've ever paid for a show at any of those places was like $10. I haven't been over to Peabody's in a while though. And none of the bands I've ever seen there have been that big either. Mm...Roses Are Red was probably the most well known one I've seen, at the Grog Shop. But even that was like $8.

i've been to just about every club on the east coast with the exception of the revolution in florida, the kool haus in toronto, and irving plaza in new york (which i'll conquer on april 22nd for brand new)

in my opinion, the BEST place to see a show is hands down the 9:30 club in DC. there isn't a bad view in the house, its easy to get to, easy to park, and the sound is fantastic. i wouldn't rather see a show anywhere else.

for smaller bands, i love the ottobar in baltimore. the place is tiny, has a great little balcony, and is perfect for hardcore/metal shows. love that venue.

i go to revolutions in ft. lauderdale for 95 percent of my shows. I don't have much to compare it to but I LOVE IT! Its pretty small, I'm not as fond about it when they play outside but on the inside there is not a bad spot in the house. The pit goes kind of into the ground so you can stand around it without being in it. It also has a wrap around balcony which is cool because you can see the whole stage. On the balcony where the sides of the stage are, there are windows so you can look down directly onto the stage. I love love love seeing shows there.

the knitting factory in NYC is the best place i've been to.

when the birch hill was around, that was the best worst place ever. it could be 10 below zero outside but it would be over 100 inside. but the shows were always amazing.

Being as I live way out in the middle of nowhere, I go to Cleveland. I like the Agora, quite a bit.

Every once in awhile we'll get a good band to come play the Cellar in Yongstown, which is 20 minutes away to Clevenland's hour.

the Chicago House of Blues has an awesome stage and floor, but the security ruins any show I want to go to. Plus I like taking pictures at shows.

The Metro in Chicago is amazing, I think anyone will tell you. The Riviera rules in the larger venue category. I've still never been to a lot of places though- Congress theater, Logan Square, the Beat Kitchen, Double Door, or the Vic

Wasn't there just a buy out on the HOB though? A friend was planning a NYE show and they had to cancel it because the person they were dealing with got fired and I heard most of the employees were as well. I wonder if they'll keep ther camera rule

Higher Ground In Burlington, VT, problem si no stage dives or crowd surfing... I've been to NFG there, The Early November, Cartel, John Ralston, I'm going to see Rise To Fight in a week, and they have really nice security... you can bring in anything, they just rip your ticket, and in you go.

You know it's ironic you say that, cos about a week ago, a dude got kicked out for having a switchblade, then in the parking lot he attacked someon, and HE got stabbed... first time ever, and that place has been open like 13 years...

for chicago shows, definitely metro. A lot of great bands start off here such as Fall Out Boy, Smashing Pumpkins, Alkaline Trio etc...

for outdoor shows I thought Charter One Pavilion was pretty awesome, with the city and lake in the background...saw Taking Back Sunday there last summer.

Bogart's in Cinncinnati is not that good at all. It is in a skecthy part of town, (I think their was something like 5 murdors on the street it is located on last year)and the place is really beat up. Sound isn't awful though.

For local shows though their is awesome place called the Underground. It is basicly a chill place to go to a show before and after. They have a bunch of ping pong tables, pool tables, couches, tables, and free popcorn. Whats holding it back from being the perfect venue is the fact that it is funded by churches. It was built by all these churches and they do all the funding. All the workers are vollunters from churches so they have no real staff. Any local band can play here but the only larger acts that would come to the Underground are Christian bands. For example, Copeland is playing there March 20th. If someone would buy it and make it open to all bands, it would be near perfect.

Cincinnati needs a better music scene :-( .

CPAC is okay but most of the kids there are douchebaaaags.

the murat egyptian room is cool for bigger tours like TBS
