i'm assuming anton means people will go for the obvious "i bet they need one in jersey" joke?

so basically they are asking for idiot teenagers with no talent and nothing going for them in life to promote a lame company and work for free with no benefits....hmmmmm this scenario reminds me a lot of that at a certain "punk" website and its unpaid "staff".....hmmmm

We all know that I'd be the best fit for this job because I'm good at acting like someone I'm not.

That ignores:

All of the college grads on staff, the staff member with an MBA, those in long-term committed relationships, the staff member at Dartmouth, those in high-paying jobs that do this on the side as recreation, and those using this website as a launching point for their future careers.

You can see the "negative" side all you want -- but in the end, you're still visiting the page, and all the staff here are better people than you will ever be.

ehh easy on the accusations, tate. i think above all people speak out of ignorance, not the fact that they're better or worse people than your staff. your heart's in the right place though....i love your staff.

tate is sorta right though...i went to redlands, which is barely a top 300 university...so all those people probably are better than me and all i got going for myself currently is this music website, which i won't plug, i run that makes me just enough profit from ad money for me to pay rent in my shitty apartment where i live with my gf who is 5 yrs younger than me, but i'm still crossing my fingers in the hopes that i'll pull a youtube or myspace and a big corporation will take pity in me and actually offer me more than 100 bucks for my website that i've built up from nothing...i'm still praying even though my parents have given up on me :(

regardless of whether you seek to work for DTR in the long run, love ALL of their bands, or favor them amongst all of the record labels out there - the things i've heard sound like they're great for people serious about getting into the music industry in any way, shape, or form...even if it's in a small aspect. having done street team work for another label, i'm sure this is what this position could offer to everyone, if not any different due to differences between city/state/region leading:

FREE MUSIC, free admission when available to shows, entrance to events locally & nationally, experience in new media/online promotional work, a chance to network with others in your community/state (benefiting you outside of the street team position also), rewards through documenting your own "simple" work, street team only benefits, etc

DriveThru is a great record label and being a street team leader allows people to get more involved with the music they love. What is so bad about that?
