I've posted my lengthy, and hopefully informative, interview with Panic! at the Disco (http://www.absolutepunk.net/panicaththedisco) right here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=201585). This interview is made up of mostly fan-submitted questions and attempts to tackle many of the "harder issues" and "hate" that appeared to be surrounding the band in the past few months. Thank you to everyone who submitted questions and to the band, label, and management for helping coordinate this lengthy interview. Hope you enjoy it, please leave your thoughts and comments.

i read this wanting to hear them act like assholes.

but they seem pretty down to earth and logical. and they dont trash talk, which is good. even though I have grown tired of their music, you can tell that these guys actually do it because they love it.

What do you think about the fans that have tracked down your past girlfriends have begun idolizing them and giving each their own cult following via the internet?

Ryan: It’s Disgusting. Why would people idolize someone who doesn’t do anything and saying you’re a model/photographer with a digital camera and photoshop does not count as an artist.

Are there any tentative album titles or song titles for the next record yet?

Spencer: We have a couple of possibles, “Panic! at the Disco is…Here” or “the devil and pete wentz are raging inside me” or does that give away that we think pete wentz is god? Actually, we’ve just started writing for it so we don’t have titles yet but this has me thinking…

this band is an absolute pathetic joke live. Green Day, The Beatles, Madonna and Queen all called, they want their ideas back.

01/05/07, 08:30 PM
What band that is in the scene, whether you’re associated with the band or not, do you think deserves of the same amount of fame that you all have been given?

Ryan: Forgive Durden and the Nurses

John: As Tall As Lions

Spencer: The Dear Hunter

Brendon: Forgive Durden

2 of them said forgive durden? I'm sorry, but that band blows.

edit: Great interview Jason, I expected it to be more biased coming from AP.net, but it was pretty clear and they were represented pretty well.

i dig some of their stuff, but the pageantry and the circus act makes me think the band isnt confident enough in their own music for that to be enough for their fans... it also says something about the age group they appeal to... most older kids are into the music, not the scene (at least thats how it used to be)... ::sigh:: where have you gone blink and fenix tx? the days of dude ranch are far behind us...

nice read....good job to all involved.

i remember i had trouble finding their cd the day it came out (yeah, i heard their demo stuff online and i could not wait for the release date) but every place i called asked "panic...who?" and now, they are a lot of people's favorite thing to hate and/or guilty pleasure. just an observation. but, they have really gone quite far despite being a bit on the young side (personally and as a band) and having released just one album. hate me all you want, but i am happy for them and i am anxious to see what they are going to do now.

i hope these guys release a new record fast, i've grown tired of them too. but, it really is a great album they've made. so, lets hope the follow up is just as good.

i don't know how i feel about these guys as people, or at least the lead singer. i saw them over the summer on the dresden dolls/hush sound tour and after the show i watched about fifty people wait outside by the bus for the band to come out(specifally brendan) and when he finally came out. it was with his hood up and he didn't even glance at the crowd that was waiting for him. granted, a lot of these kids were the "screaming girl" types and yelling "brendan!", when you are in a band..that comes with it. don't ignore the people buying tickets for your shows. ATLEAST wave, something. he walked right through the crowd like he was p diddy or something.

good interview though, good read.

I still enjoy their debut album, and I'll probably purchase their second album. The interview was good, their answers surprised me in a good way. Still some little things bother me (55 dollar special edition of A Fever... wtf?)

i agree with the person who said they were tying to win us over. grant it some of their remarks were taken out of conext but how many was that? and think of all the bands who do the same thing but are smart enough not to say anything. and they still look like tranies on stage; at least that hasent changed

Not a bad interview. Makes me kinda rethink what I've said in the past.

The interview totally made me rethink my opinion of the band. I started reading it thinking that nothing would do that, so congrats on the balanced style jason. I think every band makes mistakes, and unfortunately this band seems to have made more than most (and it didn't help that they were in the public eye), but they came across as more grounded than I'd been led to believe. And I still think their music has an edge. Good point about the special edition $55 disk, but I suppose if the fans buying it are willing to spend that much, then why not profit from it? It's not like that was the only way to hear the album after all.

I used to think their music was awesome, frankly, but I was rather put off by all the negative publicity they got. But, like a lot of other people, this did make me rethink. I think that some of their shortcomings have been due to a lack of experience (eg: poor live performance due to the fact that they hadn't done many before). I still don't understand the one-album box set and the $55 special edition though.

Great interview. The irony, of course, is that there is absolutely nothing PUNK about PATD, as much as I love them, they are pretty much pop/mainstream. I thought this site was for punk bands? At least My Chemical Romance has a punk image. But Panic? Come on!

Hepnotic
01/07/07, 04:12 AM
All they did was damage control. They gave the safe answers and tried to kill the drama and rumors. Their responses were by the book. I cant blame them. Few bands can really screw around in an interview (Unless you're the sex pistols, or nirvana). If not, you're under too much pressure from your label to be polite, respectful, and politically correct.

"No we're not gay" (it would hurt our record sales in conservative demographics) "...not that theres anything wrong with that" (it would hurt our record sales in liberal demographics).

The circus act isn't a distraction from the music on the CD!! Its a distraction from the bad job they do LIVE with their music.... its heinous. They need to practice on the MUSIC not on the coreography!... ugh.
