I was there this weekend for my birthday/Thanksgiving and me and my ex almost went to the tree lighting and last second I said it was to cold and I didn't want to go. When we saw this the next day she was really freaked out cause that shit really gets to her. But yeah thank the Lord they caught him.

Had he contacted someone who actually could have provided him with a bomb, it would have gone off.

I've always been curious as to how the FBI finds these people, I'm thankful that they do.

Someone tipped the FBI about the guy wanting to perform violent jihad. So they contacted him as undercover terrorists and set him up. Also he was e-mailing a terrorist group about wanting to leave America to join them in their fight in the Middle East. The FBI and Portland Police did a great job catching this guy. Portland Police need a little good rep after all the recent problems they have been having.

Sure, but you can say that about anything. This thing was a sting and no one got hurt, or course it didn't make too much of a buzz. No one died= no one cares.

Someone has to die in order for you to care?

For me to care, no. But for mass media, yes. That what answering someone who said earlier why it wasn't on mass media as much.

This incident didn't get much press because of it's all too common denominator...
don't fret

Woah there, pump your breaks.
I'm actually FROM the town where this kid lived and friends with alot of the people he went to the mosque with. They're pretty pissed off/irritated because not only did some idiot light their mosque on fire the day after (luckily it was put out quickly and not TOO much damage was done), they feel like they just got out of the spot light as a people group for the 9/11 attacks and now people are being more hateful than ever to them. Sunday some people told a few of my friends not to go to school monday.

Having lived there for longer than a decade, my thoughts exactly. But I guess America is America.

Read past posts, that was concerning someone saying why mass media wasn't hyping up what has been happening.
