Sigur Ros (http://www.absolutepunk.net/www.sigur-ros.co.uk) is currently in the process of writing and recording (http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk) their follow-up to 2005's Takk.
we have finished recording a few songs but some more things need to be done. we don’t know exactly where the album is heading yet. we are really just experimenting at this stage. some of the songs we recorded are old songs which we had written a while ago, unreleased material which we never got a chance to finish. we decided it was time they were recorded.

I'm hoping this gets released this year...

but I'm not getting my hopes too high, a year of releases from Radiohead, Wilco AND Sigur Ros...I might get over-whelmed.

This band makes me love life even more than I already do. Can anyone name drop a few bands that have sounds similar to Sigur Ros? I need some good new falling-asleep-to-music. Bands with string sections are highly encouraged.

Not really...

"Into The Blue Again" had some great tracks, but compared to Sigur Ros' "Takk..." it's not much ...

I really don't think you can compare the two, they're at different levels.

and as for Sex and Glue , that band They Dont Sleep is decent

check out The American Dollar though, one of the bands out there that isn't recognized at all

i've just recently started getting into them, i'm a fan of both "( )" and "Takk...".

anyone seen them live? i've heard it's a near-religious experience.

this band is so amazing. i want them to make a few more videos for takk songs before they get deep into recording because glosoli and hoppipola are so tight. a video for saeglapur would rule.

i saw them in austin last year. they were amazing. i thought my ears may bleed, luckily they didn't, but that would be an awesome reason for them to bleed.

i'm stoked for new stuff. i love this band.

In the final seconds of the show I felt more or less everything a person could possibly feel, but all at the same time. Just..fantastic live, totally mind-blowing.
