A train that we forgot
Is still on the tracks.
The vessel unused,
Succumbs to rust.
I sit in a cab
And pretend to be going
Somewhere.
The cobwebs
Sway, and
For the conductor's whistle
I wait.
But the air is tacit.
I look out the window,
And the outside peers in.
Laced with the dust of ennui,
The station sighs
With hope of relief.
And then I realize
That I've been here forever.
In a place that surrounds me.
Is still on the tracks.
The vessel unused,
Succumbs to rust.
I sit in a cab
And pretend to be going
Somewhere.
The cobwebs
Sway, and
For the conductor's whistle
I wait.
But the air is tacit.
I look out the window,
And the outside peers in.
Laced with the dust of ennui,
The station sighs
With hope of relief.
And then I realize
That I've been here forever.
In a place that surrounds me.
