My last old one....it's a good one though
Stars Lose Their Meaning
Bright nights subside over tidal waves,
A page in this book that cannot complete our history,
Centuries compiled with cemeteries,
We’ll solve this in our era of disgrace.
Crouching in this field, below all these stars,
And they could’ve been ours,
But, now they live in someone else’s eyes.
Disguised by my broken heart, this solvent flesh.
Chorus
This isn’t my night, from where I stand.
Your retinas notched, and arched.
Ready to cover up a target of a heart
Of someone who couldn’t please you.
Will you tempt the fall?
The autumn when every star in the sky lost it’s meaning.
And with these stitches, they reflect our time (or lack of)
One last effort ride, to save your pride.
To a place where you dispel my presence.
Smoothly and equate this to a trial marked staleness.
I’ll collide with pride.
In my severed ties, and crooked lines.
With ribbons that don’t fit so perfectly…
But this barbed wire shines, moonlight follows.
Chorus
I can now look at myself through a novice thought,
I’m a glutton for this punishment,
And my words will echo like the past.
You trade my broken heart for something more useful.
I was willing, and you were wincing.
Does the thought of this burn in over-it eyes.
How can you forget me?
(All of this was for you; all of this was for you)
