Trustkill (http://www.trustkill.com/) recording artists It Dies Today (http://www.trustkill.com/) have announced that they have parted ways with vocalist Nick Brooks. Starting with the upcoming Papa Roach tour to begin next week, Jason Wood will take the microphone as a full-time member of the band.
Speaking on the departure, Brooks issued the following statement: “The last six years have been incredible and I’ve seen and done more things than I ever thought were possible with this band. I also met so many amazing people along the way and I want to thank all of the fans for being so supportive, you guys made this all worthwhile. I’ve decided to leave the band because that is what is best for everyone at the moment. I will miss everyone, but be sure that you will be hearing from me again. I have a new band called Queen City Station and we should be recording some time this spring.”
Guitarist Mike Hatalak has released his own statement regarding the situation: “The band would like to send Nick our best wishes with his new project and we will always treasure the hard work and music we have created with him. Taking over will be Jason Wood who we first met while he was filling in on bass with Still Remains. Jason would like to welcome the fans commenting “I was privileged to be on tour with It Dies Today this summer while playing with Still Remains. Those weeks gave me a chance to see how hard they work on a regular basis and how much they care about their fans and music.”
It Dies Today will have their first date on the Papa Roach tour starting on Jan 23rd. They are supporting their recently released sophomore album, Sirens, which has attracted much media attention. The band has already received feature coverage in Metal Edge, Revolver, Alternative Press, Hit Parader, and Decibel. Outburn praised the album, saying “On Sirens…It Dies Today keeps their longtime fans fully satisfied while attracting scores of new metalheads to their lair with some of the catchiest melodies and most ballsout breakdown ever put to disc…Everything is intensified- the riffs are sharper, and the choruses are larger than life.”
this band bums me out, so much potential, absolutely wasted :-(

Wow, that's crazy. I for one liked Sirens...yes, it was quite a bit "softer" than The Caitiff Choir, but it was still good. Now I wonder if they're going to go back "harder" with a new vocalist.

I'm not gonna lie.
I don't think It Dies Today is going to be the same without Nick.
He was such an interesting character. great fucking energy.
and I actually don't mind listening to Sirens.

Oh man i'm excited this happened. Brooks wrote very interesting lyrics, but once he put out that bullshit "record" Sirens the band totally fell apart. Think about it, they went from playing shows with still remains and unearth to papa roach and fucking kill hannah.
Hopefully they will quickly go back into the studio and record a real follow-up to the caitiff choir.

dude sirens was good. im just sad that i didnt get to see them with nick behind the mic. both times i tried, they sold out right before me, but i guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. good luck to idt though, i know they'll do good.

i thought sirens was really good but just alot different but thats what progression is about...anyways jason wood is ridiculous, he reminds me of dustin kensrue circa the illusion of safety days...amazing

Ironic I was next to papa roach when I flew from sac to buffalo and I was listening to idt. Didn't think the two would tour together...
i for one think this band will be better off without this guy. he sounds great on cd, but he cant sing at all live. sounds like he blew out his voice or something.

'The Caitiff Choir' - Super generic metalcore with one or two okay songs.
'Sirens' - Take the super generic metalcore of the previous album, add a little Eighteen Visions (just listen to 'Sacre Coeur' (or however you spell it), and top it off with all the nu-screamo an album can handle.
'Sirens' was bad but so was everything else these guys did. Just because 'Sirens' is more commerical doesn't make their heavier stuff any better.

Sirens grew on me A LOT. I was disappointed at first, but it really is good. It's heavy, it's catchy, well written... You at least have to give them respect for trying something different. I still miss some of the crazy breakdowns of the Caitiff Choir, but I've been listening to this one a LOT.

That was an ok disc. It was a good direction they went but the lasting value.... eh... and 9 songs? Wtf that's weak they could have put the song they had for the movie underworld [ I thought that song was noyce ] and made it at least a little longer. But bottom line I was expecting more due to all the hype

i hear he just liked to party way too much and it obviously takes a toll on his voice live...i still think they'll be better off without him..as musicians i think theyre very talented

Well considering Atreyu was playing their style of music before the entire metalcore genre became over saturated and that their guitarists can actually play, it's not a big deal. And hey, I'll take an occasional metalcore album here and there over a generic metalcore album that is horrible, which is pretty much every It Dies Today album.
