We here at Absolutepunk.net are pleased to bring you a new addition to our Articles section that we are christening Absolute Ink (http://www.absolutepunk.net/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=1854). Absolute Ink is set to bring you short stories and writings from the music community. Currently, you can check out fictional works from two amazing writers, Michael Sonbert (http://www.michaelsonbert.com) of The Never Enders (http://www.myspace.com/theneverenders) and Will Angelos (http://www.absolutepunk.net/journal.php?do=showentry&e=10928) of Autonym (http://www.myspace.com/autonymla), as well as two short stories from the infamous Eisley Darringer (http://www.absolutepunk.net/journal.php?do=showentry&e=10750). Be sure to scroll down and read the Foreword (http://www.absolutepunk.net/journal.php?do=showentry&e=10393) that kicks off the section. Get your read on!

Cool concept. I'm a huge fan of Chekhov, as well as the short story noted. It will be extremely interesting how this turns out. I've always wanted to try my hand at the short story genre, but I guess I lack the creativity and imagination to complete one.

Edit: The Never Enders seems like a good book, although so many similar works are compared to Catcher and Fight Club. I'd be curious to hear someone's opinion who has actually read it

This seems like a very interesting concept. It'll be fun to see how people really think.

One piece I read for my short story as a genre class this past semester that drew a fantastic connection between life's struggles and music was Sony's Blues by James Baldwin. He's also fantastic like Chekhov

Ehh... I don't understand the point of this.

Well there are many many intelligent people on this site, and many who show their writing abilities in reviews/posts/etc. Often times, people who take a great interest in their music also interest in their creative abilities...ie. writing short stories. It's a great form of conversion.

Exactly!

Let me be the first to say that for a second, I thought this was gonna be a section where APnet users could show off their rad tattoos and whatnot.

Will do. I noticed those two pieces are really really short. It's such an incredible talent to tie in the major themes and points of study within a small work. Every word in a short story is essential to the stories over all purpose and that has always intrigued me.

Are those users of this site, or just writers outside of the community who have offered their services?

It's a great way for them to get good press, and for us to get something great to add to the site

Sonbert doesn't write the lyrics for the Never Enders, does he?

She leans in and kisses me on my mouth and then so does the train…

I love that line...

Out on the street everybody is the same as us. Young, alone, and dying to die.

That one too..

Not completely sure. He's the vocalist...so probably???

Well I know that (unfortunately); I'm just saying that if he is I hope his literary pen is a little stronger than his lyrical one.

when i read absolute ink, i thought this would be about tattoos.

this a lot more cool. especially since tons of people read this site. are people from the forums going to eventually be able to have things posted on it? (obviously after it'd have been looked over by someone to tell if it was good or not)

Yea, it's all in the Foreword.

Yea, it's all in the Foreword.
I think you need to edit the first sentence...you may have forgot to complete what you were trying to say.

I think that's half the idea. Maybe I'm wrong though

Same.

I like the concept but the title is kind of misleading.

this reminds me of revolution on canvas, which is one of my favorite books. nice job. :-D

This sounds like a great addition. Tons of bands are fairly literary sorts... not that this is any guarantee for good writing, but it helps to be exposed to lots of literature in the same way life exposed to random life events develops certain things: strength of character, wisdom, blah blah blah, you know. Whatever, it sounds good. Russ wrote a nice Foreword.

This is incredible. Definitely, one of the best new ideas on here in a long time. I'm excited to see what some fellow ap.net literary enthusiasts have to say AND write.

There should be a better way to have this on the site than in your journal.
