Speaking of Collateral, Edward Norton turned down the role of Tom Cruise's character.
Edward Norton also almost won the part of Andy Kaufman in Man on the Moon.
He's been considered/turned down a bunch of awesome stuff.

Come to think of it, Bill Murray's in Ghost Busters was written for Belushi. I'm actually kind of glad Murray got it. I can't see Belushi in that role. But it sucks that the reason he got it is Belushi died.
