View Full Version : Built To Spill
Possibly the greatest Indie Rock band of the 90's, beside Pavement. Are there any other Built To Spill fans on the board?

I never really listened to them before last week when my friends told me to check them out. "Carry the Zero" and "Big Dipper" are pretty decent.

well this dissapointing. i would think that people here would at least have heard of them and a few would be fans.

Great band and Doug Martsch is amazing, but that's a bit of an overstatement Kev.
I don't think so. I like every album they have put out.
Hmm, off the top of my head:
Sleater-Kinney
Modest Mouse
Yo La Tengo
Guided by Voices
Sebadoh.
Maybe even Sonic Youth, though they did most of their best in the 80s.
All of those are debatable, but Built to Spill does deserve more credit than they are given
Maybe it was a bit of an overstatement, but from the bands you listed, I think Guided By Voices and Modest Mouse are the only two that could match up with Built To Spill.
Sleater-Kinney was one of the best bands of the 90s, regardless of genre tags.

you people are strange
it seems like every time i come on here kevin has made another thread asking who likes a certain indie-emo band
Hmm. I'm still a little new to this indie thing, but who are guided by voices? Can somebody reccomend a few songs by them? I actually got modest mouses 'the moon & antarctica' last week, and i'm loving it. I'm probally going to pick up built to spill's 'keep it like a secret' next tuesday, along with thrice's new cd.
